i paid today $3.59 a gal today. and the same name station 2 miles away was at $3.75 a gal. its starting to get bad. i heard the break down is for every $50.00 you spend big oil gets about $30.75, $7.00 goes to the refinery, government gets $6.00 from taxes, $4.00 to the company that delivers the gas, $1.25 to the CC company, and $1.00 to the gas station. so how are you coping with the gas BS?

I remember my senior year in college (1999), a low-cost gas station moved into town and drove down all the prices. It got down to .69 a gallon (no, I didn't forget the 1). I remember thinking then I'd never seen prices that low again.

$3.75 right now. As many of you know we own a gas station, and I like the OP breakdown of profits. But you are a little off, right now on a $50 purchase I will make 94 cents if they pay with cash, and far less with plastic. It's been a tough 10 years on us.

It sucks, guys. Some "experts" say that $5 a gallon gas (nationwide average) will be here by the summer, but we've heard that before.

I feel for you people who have long commutes and are filling up your car 2-3 times per week. I am fortunate that I only live 5 minutes from where I work (which is both good and bad at times, lol).

I wonder if 20 years from now we'll be having these same types of conversations about the price of gas.

The Chevron by my house is $4.25 a gallon yesterday, think it may be higher today, the Shell went up $.10 since yesterday to $4.15 and I forgot to look at the Chevron sign to see if it went up again. It has gone up $.25 in 4 days in Napa, CA. I have a rather short drive, about 15 miles each way, but my girlfriend drives 45 miles each way 5 days a week. I think we'll be going hybrid before long. Pretty sure we'll see Mid $5 in the summer, Trump thinks it may approach $6. But yes before the election it will drop back down so Obama can save face.

our gov't is trying to push the price up as much as they can then start drilling here. Not until it reaches xxxxxxx/gallon probably close to 10 a gallon IMO. Maybe as high as 250/barrel or more. In the process slow China down a little and keep us up top for a little while longer. This is just how I see it.
With the Iran situation this might be the actual time it happens.
