We are going to have a trade night every month and a break night and maybe have something for big playoff games where we willhave free food but to go buy donuts everyday would be a hassle lol...maybe like once a week? we will have coffee and other drinks for sale and snacks and stuff like that

haha fat chance i live in a different state (not too far though) and the donut would get all moldy. why are there like 500 lcs' in PA but 0 where i live?

More current memorabilia and from teams other than just what is in-state. Also keep the beanie babies/non sports stuff in a corner away from the sports cards, have singles sorted by team then by player or at least by year, and try to keep wax prices no more than 15 bucks above average online pricing. Maybe a popcorn machine, tv, couch, and place to bust boxes...my lcs is lacking in most all of these areas...

ya a cool thing for a shop to have would be a membership. build points with purchases and use them for freebies or discounts. makes customers want to come back and spend more than normal

I was gonna do a membership thing but instead of building up points you would pay monthly or maybe by the season if you only buy football then buy it for the football season...and they gets you a percentage off for the month or whatever

like 10% on wax
20% singles.
and so on. It would be very hard to keep track of what everyone is spending combined in a points system

get a membership card designed that you could swipe like any credit/debit card or have a barcode you could scan , if your not using high end technology like that then the way your thinking would be the way to go

Yeah we dont have a system like that. Those things are expensive as hell ha...plus we have millions of individual items so bar codes would be done when im dead ha. I am a very organized paper work person so I think I could keep track of all the different money due and I think we will make a card for the members...or maybe a punch card for a certain amount spent each time.

Have supplies just not top loaders, have sleeves, helmet cases, football cases, magnetics and so on.

Buy some older wax, let your customers buy packs and try to get a Kobe/Lebron rookie, or a Jerry Rice Rookie. Have more variety then the current year and the junk that didnt sell from last year yet.

Get some non sports cards too

You could do punch cards or stamps like a rewards program. Something like every 5 purchases gets you a 20% discount on anything in the store once you have 5 stamps or 20 bucks off anything in the store that type of thing.

Also my LCS does pack wars once a month to get rid of inventory that's been sitting there & they have good deals on that stuff. They buy pizza & soda & we rip for like 1.5 hours. Then they have a drawing for stuff they can't even give away. Loads of fun.

I still think my boobies thing is a great Idea, but this should help.

yeah we have alot of supplies. and older wax and alot more older wax will be at the new place.

I just wanted to say I think it's really cool how you're taking ideas from the people who essentially know it best. There's 4 LCS' within about an hour here but none are very good. The staff are very odd, and don't really carry much besides hockey.

My LCS does this. 15% off supplies and 50% off all non-consigned singles. The membership costs $10 a year, so it creates incentive for customers to come back to get their money's worth. If you buy $20 in singles it "pays for itself".

A few other items:

• Make sure the place is well stocked with a large variety of low-end and high-end wax and singles.
• Offer small discounts on wax with regular customers.
• Greet every person who walks in the door.

yeah well have 2 couches and snacks and food...but yeah license is about 50-80k here and your usually on a waiting list...theres going to be a bar and smoke shop right next door.

Keep your prices up to date with current market conditions. There are a few stores nearby but if you check out singles in the cases, you find stuff like $50 Kevin Smith rookie autos, a Marshawn Lynch $85 auto and the occasional 90 dollar Brady Quinn.

theres a place aorund us that has faded jamarcus russel and quinn autos for like $150.

And to answer your other comment...yeah I want to get as many ideas from as many different collectors so that I can balance it all out and truly have a shop that fits everyones needs
