No, they are kind of polite but don't know anything about sports so it hurts my heart to go there!

It was the guy that owns From Hockey to Hollywood.

Yeah we have been open 20 years so we have a good and enough displays and what not. we are just trying to get to our final location. We have had four different locations since opening in the early 90's. But none have been right. Thats why we want to more again.

Another cool feature we are gonna do is have an ipad on the sales floor for customers to look through our online inventory so we dont have to waste case space with cards that are online.

Mine isn't just a card store.. if I have the funds one day (I already have a partner lined up) we plan to open a Card / Coin / Antique store.. with plenty of swag merchandise (IE jersey's, hats, posters, etc etc). It would get a diverse group of people into the store, and let us sell cards much cheaper than most LCS (IE around eBay prices)...

design wise? I love the look of the shop on pawn stars.. I would aim for something like that.. normal showcases on the ground, tall showcases for memborabillia, and enough wall space for plaques, and displays.

My dads dream is to open a pawn shop actually. We have alot of coins and antiques in our warehouse and intend to eventually showcase some of that stuff. Our current location just sucks hard and doesnt even have a backroom. So it causes clutter.

Is that place the former "Legend of the Game" King/John St?

LOTG used to be the best place in the city for sports memo/cards...memories after blue jays games.

401 games is the best place for packs/wax in Toronto, so I have no choice evenm though no one in there knows a dime about Sports.

1. Greet every customer
2. Have a nice selection of singles
3. Keep it clean and organized
4. Run events at least 2 Saturdays a month to get people in (box breaks, monthly drawings, trade nights)

As far as wax goes, you want to price it competitively, but you can't always match online prices. There is a shop by me that marks up boxes that cost under $100 by $20. So a box that costs $80 he prices at $100. If its over $100, the markup might be $30 or so. The only issues with a small markup on wax is it is difficult to run sales. Even if you do a 10% off sale, you barely make $10 on a $90 sale.
With the punch card idea, after 5 purchases you give 20% off. Well in the $20 markup example, you would be selling a box at cost and that's before any credit card fees. Maybe an additional 20% off of singles could work or 10% off boxes.

I think it used to be that, yes. Now it is Hockey to Hollywood. Overpriced but know a bit more about sports (mostly hockey, obviously). Either way, owner is a jerk, his assistant guy is decent but either way I don't know that I will go back.

Some have mentioned Tv's. We have have two for sure. Atleast one 60 inch for games. The other will be back in our office. We are also going to try and get one trade night a month and maybe a product premiere party for hyped up products.

You could try hosting group breaks at your shop. My LCS is way too small for that to work, but it would be a cool idea.
