Potential Hot Comic Idea #4 - Reborn #1

Rumors are flying on this title due out in Mid July 2009. Here is what I have heard so far.

Marvel’s contention that the news about Reborn #1 will garner newspaper interest on the level of that earned by Civil War has set off a wave of speculation on the Internet ranging from a report on Comic Book Resources that rather than the return of Steve Rogers the new mini-series will involve the black characters from the 2003 Truth: Red, White & Black (and the rather generic “star” graphic that Marvel has used for Reborn #1 has definite iconographic similarity to the design for Truth) to Rich Johnston’s contention on his new Bleeding Cool site that the actor playing Steve Rogers in the Captain America movie will be announced on the 15th and the comic book Steve Rogers will be drawn to resemble him. Or perhaps in a combination of both these scenarios, Will Smith will be announced as the movie Captain America with a story line that recalls the events of Truth.

Nobody is sure what's going to happen, but if it's as big as Captain Americas death, it's gonna be HUGE. I was selling ungraded copies of that comics for $70-$100 when that happened.. No guarantee this is going to be that big, just passing some info along to anyone interested .

You might also want to pick up Captain America #600 which leads into the Reborn Mini, it may actually prove to be popular as well, it's already sold out from Marvel.

FYI, you can still pre-order copes of both Captain America #600 and Reborn #1 below retail price at TFAW if you're interested. - Midtown does not have these available yet. They're usually only a week in advance.

Here's what the president of Midtown is saying about his issue:

I only wish I knew what was in Cap #600, dammit! I even asked Joe Quesada, and he wouldn't tell me! Taking the matter into their own hands, the underground elite squad The M.M.M.M.M. (Mighty Mysterious Mystical Midtown Minions) abducted Joe, water boarded him for six days and nights (fully aware that this activity is no longer legal) and he still wouldn't talk! So here I am, not only a client, but the president of Midtown Comics, and nobody tells me anything. I only know this: Cap #600 is gonna be huge.

We'll have to wait and see, but I've ordered 14 for myself, just in case it is big.

They're 50/50 (meaning every other one is the other cover), not variants, so it's hard to say which will be more popular at this time since I've not seen either. I'm getting equal amounts of both. In issue #25 when he died 2 years ago, both covers were selling very well.

Are these every short printed?

They are not, but they're already sold out from Marvel and a 2nd printing is on the way. The only time issues are short printed are with variants when retailers don't order enough, but if the news is as big as Marvel is hyping it to be, these will sell out from stores in a day, perhaps in hours like Captain America #25 did.

Ordered 3 of each covers of #600 through Midtown. And 5 Reborn through TFAW. I tried the #600 from TFAW but couldn't find it. Let's see where this takes us. Thanks for the info Indy.

That's the Limited Dynamic Forces Variant, would prove to be quite desirable if Reborn is the hit I'm hoping it is. Bigger investment up front, but it'll be worth 4X the regular though.

Reborn doesn't come out until July, so they may not have it on pre-order yet.

Presale price at Midtown has already jumped to full retail of $4.99 per issue, so anyone who got in before today saved some $$$.. This is a good sign. They must be getting low already.. Tomorrow is the big news day.. I'm excited, hope it's HUGE news..

I went ahead and ordered a couple more at $4.99, they'll probably sell out tomorrow.

There are two covers, an A and B cover, every other one is the same cover. There is no regular variant, only a special Dynamic Forces variant, which isn't really that important to me since it's a special cover. As to which will be more popular Cover A or Cover B, I don't know, it's hard to say until the public starts buying them. I've bought equal amounts of both covers. The Dynamic Forces variant is around $15 dollars, but I think this issue could be so hot, that I'm not bothering with the variant at this point due to it initial price, I'd rather spend that extra money on more base issues A & B.. That make sense?

You can get either A or B or Both at Midtown Comics as TFAW are already sold out!
