I am totally on top of this, heard about this first thing this morning, according to the poker sites though it will not affect withdraws (for now). The US government sux, country going bankrupt and all of there efforts are on stopping people from playing poker. Sad to say it but in 50 years I don't think we will be a super power anymore. We are so much in debt, country is going in the wrong direction, we haven't won a war in 60+ years, all of the jobs are gone, we don't make anything anymore, how are we still so powerful.

Yea we did such a good job that we had to go back 12 more years later. Don't want to bring up politics so I won't, but we haven't won a war since WWII....we have only made the world worse since we armed and educated the people who are trying to kill us know. Great work, our government knows nothing about anything.

The most ridiculous part of this is it was added to a Port Security Anti Terrorism bill which basically handcuffed a vote against it. The scumbag who added it had previously been denied so he backdoored it. That is why voting records mean absolutely nothing! They tag so many unrelated items on you do not know what someone is voting for or against. The online poker issue will work itself out but it's going to take some time.

I find this thread amusing. It has been illegal for a long time. You are just justifying breaking laws with these complaints. I think the government should be a little more than just a war machine.

To pretend that online gambling is legal because the laws written well before home computers existed don't specifically state online gambling is illegal is pretty much grasping at straws. The technology did not exist when the laws that govern and regulate gambling were written and it was only a matter of time before this loophole was closed, and quite frankly I'm surprised its taken this long.

To circumvent there needs to be a law against it, which except for a handful of states, does not exist. The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act deals with financial institutions transferring money. If it was clearly illegal you would think with millions of players over the last decade you would have one Federal prosecution but of course there is none and will continue to be none which is why they are going after banks.

I highly doubt federal prosecutors have any interest in going after individuals who use the online gaming sites. Those individuals have done nothing wrong. And putting a freeze on the assets of these sites is not freezing individuals money... it will be these sites responsibility to maintain liquidity even through the freeze. If this leads to a "run" on the assets of these sites, or these sites stop paying out account balances to their customers, then that will be on the head of the companies involved. The consumers will be protected to the extent that the law allows. But if these places start filing for bankruptcy, good luck getting any money from them if you are a customer of theirs. The individuals that use these sites will never be in any legal trouble... but it will be a gigantic case of "buyer beware" when giving/holding any money to/with these companies from here on out.

and whether you agree with our current administration or not, and regardless of what you think of our last administration, our government that doesn't know "nothing about anything" has allowed you to enjoy the freedoms that you enjoy today - you ungrateful schmuck. try doing the things you do now in other non-democratic countries. |
