I have a feeling it might be a little more than just choosing soccer. If you suck, I am sure ya don't get paid.

This post is kind of harsh.

I'm sure the OP knows this. It almost sounds as if you're saying he sucks. That's probably not what you meant, but it could be taken that way.

I don't see how anyone could take that wrong, it's a fact "if you suck, you dont get paid top dollar"

I took it as, if you have talent you will get paid no matter what sport.

What I was more saying is that the guys in soccer who are middling do not get paid well, just as Tony Pena Jr. will never get 25 mil a year. That is my point. Not aimed at him.

I can probably go pro playing tennis if I would ever want to get back in shape!

Hockey is out of the question now. Too old for that. I'll just ref and play occassionally now.

Were you close to being pro before? I would think it would be hard to get on the circuit with all the kids starting at age 2 and never doing anything else but hitting balls.

I'm thinking about going to the Royals training camp next year. They have a mini camp, that if you're over 30, you get a full uni with your name on the back, and you get to play with and against current and former players.

Maybe, just maybe they will see something they like and give me a roster spot.

Yes. I stopped playing competatively in 1999 and concentrated on hockey.

I was one of those kids. I played my whole youth in New York. When we moved to Florida in 1991 I thought I was done playing tennis because I didn't know what to do. When I attended my first school my 6th grade home room teacher was a tennis coach. Low and behold she would be my tennis coach year round until 1999 when I started to get bigger and decided to go the hockey route. Which obviously didn't pan out. If I would have stayed on track with tennis who knows where I would be today.

Just make sure you are on Frank's team. He supposedly wins all the time. I would love to do that, but after playing slow pitch four nights a week for two or three years in a row, I dont think I would even foul off a pitch.

Nice. How old are you? Seems as thought Federer is 28, and is almost done.

I'm 28 as well. But I haven't nearly been through the rigor that he has been through in the last 5+ years....LOL.......minus the hockey

A guy on a few of my teams is traveling playing fast pitch also. I could not imagine doing it. It is really funny watching high school girls play slow pitch. They are usually TERRIBLE. Can't adjust.

My fiance played travel fast pitch growing up. Very competitive, one girl on their team could easily hit 70mph when she was 14. That girl ate steak and a whole pizza when she would go out. She was given a tryout with UCLA but decided she rather play all 4 years and stayed locally.

I play slow pitch co-ed thru work and love when fast pitch girls complain they can't hit slow pitch. I understand it's completly different but still you should be able to adjust. Hand eye coordination, patience, and timing.

My friend was drafted by them and is currently in the Rookie League. Cannon arm, tons of power, but hes a little on the slow side and doesnt hit for a high average.

He doesnt compare to my old teammate though, Sean Rodriguez, currently leading the minors in HR's. He got a taste for the majors last year with the Angels.
