I'll be there as long as there are Fire Trucks and Ron stays on the other side of the room.

In all serious. If anything is going to happen on that day. There is really nothing You can do about it. There is no where to run and Hide. So just grab the Hottest chic on Your street and go for it if it does start. I have a couple of them on My list already

The leap-year thing is pretty comical considering it supposes that the Mayans were using the same 12-month calendar we currently use. The Mayan calendar "ending" (starting a new cycle) coincided with the winter solstice of this year, which we call December 21, 2012. Their calendar, while less useful to modern life because of the LONG period of time it covered, was more accurate than our original calendar and did not need to make an adjustment for leap years. Bad logic to explain away other bad logic always makes for some good comedy.

As its already been pointed out, the mayans also did not predict any sort of doomsday event to coincide with the winter solstice and ending of one cycle, beginning a new one. That largely came from people who were already wrong about their "end of the world guesses" creating a new date and using a completely unrelated event to tie significance to their new guesses.

NASA does a good job of explaining this topic here...
NASA - 2012: Beginning of the End or Why the World Won't End?

Worker: Chief, I ran out of space on the calendar tablet.

Chief: Meh, can't be bothered. I got some heads to chop off on top of the pyramid.

Here Is what modern Mayan Descendants think.

Modern Mayans: 2012 ‘end of the world scenario’ false

Love this quote:
He adds, “That the world is going to end? They wouldn’t believe you. We have real concerns these days, like rain.”

scientists and historians figured the date Dec 21, 2012, based on the soltice. Has nothing to do with leap years nor the 12 month calender. It's not like the Mayans had a bunch of Calendars with pictures of cats and Dogs with Dec. 21, 2012 Circled with a skull and crossbones pictured in the square saying "the end of the World"

(seems like a good newspaper comic lol)

Hopefully, nothing happens at all. What do I think will happen? Probably nothing. I don't know for sure, none of us do, I only believe that it will be another doomsday prediction failure. I just hope nothing happens coincidentally on that day, like an earthquake or things of that nature because that will scare the crap out of everyone lol.

First of all, sorry for bumping such an old thread. Anyways, you are right lol. Tons of earthquakes happen every day, and a 2-3 magnitude is sure to cause chaos everywhere.

If you are unwilling to place an all or nothing bet on December 20th then you are really not a believer.

eh, Mayans didn't account for leap years, so this should've happened awhile ago
