Um, that's a really really large amount of money. You seem angry, but also ok just brushing it off as a loss. I would be very upset with the Wifey as well. Like, not speaking-to upset.

man, hard to lose 16K in one shot like that but you can't totally blame her for thinking it was play money if you never told her you had that much on an online gambling site.

Losing all that money is terrible but think of it this way: do you owe money now? Does your account have negative funds as in -$300? If its not then just be glad youre not in debt

Yups. I actually don't blame his wife at all. If I see an online game with a balance, especially in excess of 'normal' 'real life' cash, I would ALWAYS presume it's virtual money.

No one has asked.... so I will... why did the wife NOT KNOW that was real money. If the OP has to keep that a secret (I'd get in trouble, or I need to hide how much I have in there) then there are other problems in the relationship.

If I am going to gamble online with real money, why wife will know it's real money beforehand. That's not being whipped... that's being open about large amounts of money. If I'm hiding that, what else am I hiding?

I was thinking the same. What if she won a ton! Those slots are money holes but if you win its usually big. Imagine if she actually hit something

Wow...that sucks but this could have been avoided if you told your wife you were gambling real money online. Or did she just forget?? Anyway... what site were you on I can't find any that work in the US.

no disrespect to the OP but online gambling is the most stupid thing ever. Seriously if people are willing to gamble online when you can not see cards in person (like at a real casino) then you will lose.

That's terrible man lol. I'm really surprised that your wife didn't know about your money on that site. If you had that much invested into it why wouldn't you tell her about it? At least in the event of a situation like this one.

Its not that my wife doesnt know I gamble. My wife loves to play slots but never for big money. Infact she plays "slotmania" on her ipad from the app store. So she saw a crazy balance and thought it was play money just like her app game on her ipad.

I didnt mention that I was playing $25 double double bonus poker the night before and hit a royal for $20k. Thats what got my balance up that high. I would have eventually told her and she definately would have seen it when I deposited it in my joint account. Believe me trust isnt an issue in our relationship. She knows my vice on gambling. So there is no issues there at all.

It was just a bad mixture of timing and freak moment. I didnt lose $16k. I pretty much gave it back to them after winning it the night before.

As to why im not through the roof on my wife? What can i do? its gone..no amount of animosity or fighting is going to bring it back. I never fight over money. Money comes and goes. We will always make money in our lives and always spend it the way we enjoy it.

I just got back from a party I went to. She is feeling guilty now about it. Whatever, I had a great run and now ive given back a good chunk of it. But my wife knows about everything. I dont hide much from her.

It must be nice. I would be so excited about winning that kind of money I'd tell my boyfriend right away. You must be pretty baller if you can afford to gamble like that. I'd be sick if I lost ( or someone else lost) that kind of money. Anyway, you still haven't said what site you were on.

wow..epic fail post.

-first...he was either playing slots or other casino games as he stated
- second..whats the difference in seeing the cards physically(as in poker/other table games) and seeing them electronically? Every casino game and poker game ive played online ive "seen" every card i was suppose to according to the games rules.

you must be one of the tin foil hat conspiracists, that believe all online gambling is rigged

You're so baller you don't even realize it . Come on...You're playing poker for $25 a spin ( I'm guessing a $5 machine max bet)...win the jackpot...your wife loses most of it the next morning and you don't care. I think its really commendable that you realize that money isn't worth fighting over. But still... that's a lot of money... unless your super baller and $20,000 really isn't that big of a deal.

I wouldn't have kept a balance. Every $2,000 gets taken out, right away.

I keep those amounts in the account because they trigger comps and other gifts from the casino. If you withdraw them quickly after winning, they dont comp you nor do they offer you things. This site usually offers me trips to vegas, niagara falls hotels and sends gift basket of treats and chocolate time to time. I give them to my wife and shes happy.

As for being a baller, its not the case. I just happen to have a vice of gambling. Some call it a hobby or a vice. Either way Ive been a decent gambler most of my life. Do I wish I still had the cash? For sure!! Damn right it affects me. I mean ill still gamble but Ill bring back my betting on poker to like $10/hand rather than $25/hand. Usually start of with a small amount and build it. My last deposit was 6 months ago for $2500 and I got a match bonus with a 90x rollover. Ive been up and down but playing with the bonus money. It clears and becomes cash once you roll it over. But you lose loyalty if you cash out right away.

Its easier to swallow such amounts when you keep your gambling stash seperate from life finances. Cards, gambling, whatever you choose to spend your money on is what makes you happy! If Im hurting for $$, I wouldnt be gambling.
