Default Conan O'Brien Joins "Sarah Palin Jokes" Bandwagon

Guess resigning as Governor won't make a difference...I was watching the Tonight Show last night and he features Sarah Palin in two jokes, one during the monologue and one during a segment called "Celebrity Survey".

The first was talking about how the U.S. was ranked like the 115th happiest country in the world...that was until Sarah Palin resigned then we jumped to number 30...And of course the audience cheers wildly either because they're supposed to or because they're all liberals...

The second was a response to a survey question...something like titles of our memoir books or something and Palin's "response" was Why I Quit The Governorship For Absolutely No Reason.

He's been making Sarah Palin jokes for a few days now. And unlike others, at least he's not "attacking" her or her family. Not saying it's okay, but I can accept THIS as comedy more than anything else I've been hearing lately...

If they were not so morbidly afraid of her, you wouldn't hear a peep about her. It's not like Conan wants to alienate 50% of his audience.. or does he?

Maybe it gets to a point where I don't want to admit Conan (or Leno when he was on) make poor taste jokes because I'm more a fan of them. Like I said, to me, these don't QUITE cross the line, but seriously. I don't see this stopping anytime soon and until he finally says something REALLY over the line it won't be an issue.

I love Conan, and he knows that 50% of his audience will laugh at that stuff. If it's funny, I'll laugh, but personally I don't find her as a subject of jokes to be humorous.

I'm basically in the same boat. I'll laugh but at the same time I'm giving Conan a bit of a snarl that he can't see...lol. A lot of America's young people (his main audience) unfortunately are liberals so they'll laugh at that stuff and find it funny.

These jokes are well within the bounds IMHO. The difference is that David Letterman's Palin jokes were mean spirited and were attacking Palin's family members. Letterman got the public chastisement that he deserved and things have moved on.

On the other side of the political spectrum, Bill Clinton infidelity jokes still rein supreme in late night television.

At least those are based on reality and not a bias of the presenter.

I really don't think those are comparable. You would think maybe more jokes about Mark Sanford but since he's not as well-known that got lost after a couple days...

Conans audience would've laughed at lettermans joke. It's comedy, people are too uptight

Maybe it's because they thought it was funny and has nothing to do with political views?

We named our puppy Conan because when we got him he was tall, white, thin and kind of awkward. He has turned into a pretty handsome pup though!

Conan has some of the best bits ever. From Triumph to Pimpbot and now Twitter Tracker, I think he has had many more hits than misses.

The only problem is his humor still doesn't fit for what used to be Leno's audience in the 11:37 timeslot...that's the reason Letterman is doing better in the ratings.

The In the Year 2000 bit was hillarious. He was still doing that in 2002.

Yeah they finally changed it to "In the Year 3000". The only difference is the first guest no longer does it with Conan, it's Andy Richter...
