That can't change. Even when he dies he will still be considered a 'top of the class' student.

Unfortunately, the media focuses on firearms. They should instead focus on mental illness and how little we as a people understand it. The mind is a powerful machine that we can't always control.

I see that all the time in my profession. Most times the problem comes because the individual goes off his/her meds. Maybe school became too much for him and he had a psychotic break. His plan was very well thought out though.

I see that stuff too. What's worse is seeing kids that are off their meds. I can't count how many times I've done cases where it involves a child who are off their meds and do an unthinkable act. Then months down the line, that same kid is back on their meds, perfectly fine.

For how much research has been done on schizophrenia and still tragedies like this happens sucks. Some of the most known serial killers were diagnosed with schizophrenia.
