Okay just to have it all sorted, so far we have:
1. Jacksonville Juggernauts, Mascot ? (Maybe the X-Men one?)
Tagline - "An unstoppable force in a world without immovable objects"

2. Jacksonville Creatures, Mascot is the Creature from the Black Lagoon, fan section is called the Black Lagoon
Tagline - "Not since the beginning of time has the world beheld terror like this!"

And
3. Jacksonville Jihads, Mascot probably a terrorist
Tagline - "Waging war on this league week by week"

I also kind of like something like "We will blow you away" as a tagline too.

i like this one also except that may also describe the Jets in alot of people's eyes...

my other idea which is similar to my first would be the Jacksonville Tebowers

Mascot would be Tebow

Tagline: Everyone else was doing it so why not us(tagline could use some work but)

All not bad. I especially kinda dig the retirees. But I think the Jacksonville Jihad with Shalid Khan's mustache as a mascot is still the team to beat. Also should it be Jihad if we do that, or should we go with the plural Jihadists?

if we're going for the goofy name, i guess jihad wins. can't imagine that winning in the hearts and minds of americans though, so i think it will test poorly.

Although I think the team name would work really well, they'd be the team people love to hate. I mean think of the most hated teams now - the Cowboys, the Patriots, the Yankees in baseball - all decidedly super American team names yet people hate them. Kinda weird. With the Jihadist, it's like we're already begging people to hate them, so every away game would probably sell out. I agree it might be a little tough to pull in home fans, but the Jaguars already have that issue with a family friendly name (as do other Florida teams) so I think you need to do something extreme to get fans in. And Jihadist is DEFINITELY extreme.

I know the mustache mascot would firmly capture Jacksonville's hipster crowd, so there's like 12 fans a game right there. Beyond that we could have the stadium tie in with the name - like 72 cheerleaders (aka the 72 virgins of Islam), tons of fun alcoholic drinks (the specialty could be a twist on the Irish Car Bomb) and our fan section could encourage dressing up. A controversial team for sure, but if Chief Wahoo can work for the Cleveland Indians we can make Shalid Khan's mustache and terrorism work for us!

If were bring terrorism into the league we can add to the tagline. Something like "Terrorizing the league 1 team at a time"

Also I just realized you were on my team too as I was reading back through. I actually really like this one and our tagline could be "Are you not entertained?" and the theme of the stadium and team could really sell themselves. I think I might like the Jihadist one a bit more though right now. Though if we tied in American Gladiators with the Roman Gladiators this idea could really get crazy awesome...

Okay, so I was messing around with Photoshop with the Jihad team, and I actually got really amped about the Gladiators idea. I made them an image - it's here:



Kinda the opposite of the Jihadists since it's SUPER American, but I think they'd be really fun and the best part - THE HALFTIME SHOW WOULD BE AMERICAN GLADIATORS! Tell me people wouldn't pay for that experience. You could even have a fan experience place where fans could beat the crap out of each other with the double ended stick thing and do American Gladiators type events.

And the other best part - HULK HOGAN COULD ANNOUNCE GAMES! He lives in Tampa and he's already tied in with the new Gladiators, so it's a perfect opportunity. And sure he's not a football mind like Madden or something, but I'd love to hear him say "That's a first down BROTHER!" and I think Jacksonville fans would agree.
