Shipping Question

I sold a Vikings team lot on Ebay for $10 with free shipping and the guy messaged me today and told me he had to pay an extra $1.53 in shipping. My question is why didn't this get sent back to me instead him having to pay the extra?

how did you send it? First class? Padded envelope? If the package was not "thick" enough they auto upgrade to priority. Happened to me once. Took me 2 weeks and many emails and calls w/delivering post office to figure it out.
Or if you sent it in a used box or envelope that had a priority sticker on it they will auto upgrade if you didn't completely cover up or take off the sticker. This also happened to me, sent something parcel, had part of an old priority sticker showing and they upgraded it. They both got delivered but the receiver had to pay the difference at the P.O.

Make sure you get some kind of proof from him first to verify his claim.
