Bigfoot Hoax Turns Deadly

(AP) - A man dressed in a military-style "ghillie" suit and apparently trying to provoke reports of a Bigfoot sighting in northwest Montana was struck by two cars and killed, authorities said.

The man was standing in the right-hand lane of U.S. Highway 93 south of Kalispell on Sunday night when he was hit by the first car, according to the Montana Highway Patrol. A second car hit the man as he lay in the roadway, authorities said.

Flathead County officials identified the man as Randy Lee Tenley, 44, of Kalispell. Trooper Jim Schneider said motives were ascertained during interviews with friends, and alcohol may have been a factor but investigators were awaiting tests.

"He was trying to make people think he was Sasquatch so people would call in a Sasquatch sighting," Schneider told the Daily Inter Lake on Monday. "You can't make it up. I haven't seen or heard of anything like this before. Obviously, his suit made it difficult for people to see him."

Ghillie suits are a type of full-body clothing made to resemble heavy foliage and used to camouflage military snipers.

"He probably would not have been very easy to see at all," Schneider told KECI-TV.

Tenley was struck by vehicles driven by two girls, ages 15 and 17, who were unable to stop in time, authorities said.

Oh yes, it IS funny...
Natural selection is always a good reason to toss out a chuckle as the gene pool gets a little less muddy.

No, you may have not been on this planet long enough to learn to roll with Natural selection in it's quest to remove true stupidity from the pool

The first party pooper to take your comment literally, prepare for many more.

The big problem is that this section of the pool knows how to do 1 thing really well and that's to breed thus continuing to dumb down society.

Why is a 15 year old driving in the first place?

As a Montanan, I am surprised that this didn't happen sooner.
I would have been less surprised if he had been mistaken for a bear, deer, moose, etc and shot. I remember a couple years back there was a dude from mexico who shot a llama in Montana and thought it was a deer. In fact, it was only because the game-processing place told him it wasn't a deer that the shooter in question figured it out. If someone can shoot a llama and think it is a deer/big game animal, it can definitely happen to a dude in a ghillie suit.

Also, you just have to be 15 in Montana to obtain a driver's license.

Well ... The craziest coincidence is that I too hit a bigfoot with my car a few years back ... Now I am starting to feel like I should have stopped afterwards

That is what I am wondering and also it is illegal to be 17 and have passengers in the car (at least where I am) you have to have at least 2 years driving experience to have passengers in the car.

It's not like they were on some back woods dirt road. He was standing in the lane of a highway dressed like a tree. I used to live in MT, this would still stand out to a person as odd. Maybe this is something they need to cover in drivers ed.

Well that evokes the old joke about the difference between the dead Sasquatch in the road and the dead Sasquatch impersonator in the road, i.e., skid marks in front of the latter...
