Default HDTV Advice

In the market for a new HDTV this Black Friday. Currently have a 42" LCD, so if dropping the money for a new one I'm looking at least 50" and possibly 60". 3D is not important at all.

If anyone owns a 50" or larger HDTV and can offer any advice on what to get, please help! I'm thinking LED but I don't know the first thing about what to look for.

I bought a Samsung 60 inch LED and it's incredible. $1600 at Best Buy, I think.

do you remember the model number? In my experience shopping last time around there are a bunch of different ones for each brand, with different features on each.

Posted a thread a few weeks ago as I was buying a new TV

Got a 60 inch Samsung Plasma at HH Gregg for under $1,500 – 24 month interest free – but mine has 3D/Smart TV/etc…

So might be more then you want but I freaking love it.

55 Samsung... This one: Amazon.com: Samsung UN55D8000 55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D LED HDTV (Silver) [2011 MODEL]: Electronics

Love it, perfect TV, scary clear picture and tiny bezel. It has been surpassed by newer models that I know nothing about.

looks really nice, I'll have to see if there's a non-3D version as I have no intent on paying an extra $500 for something I will never use.
