If you guys have an opportunity, or a free minute, go on to youtube and look at some of their changing of the guard ceremonies, and even some of the interviews with some of the soldiers. These guys take a vow never to drink again, have to be at least 6' tall, spend hours prepping their uniform on top of their 8 hour shift, truly amazing.

I saw this photo on Facebook and was wondering what the tomb was. Anyone know? Haven't had time to search around yet. At first I just assumed it was showing the soldiers standing in the rain, but then saw a note about the tomb.

Please don't get mad at me for asking this, because what those guys are doing is amazing and I know this question is trivial.
But I gotta know, how in the hell is that reef still standing there? I mean the thing has got to weigh like maybe 10 pounds and there is probably 20mph winds or more, how is it not being blown away?

I have been to the changing of the guards twice. Once when I was in fifth grade, and again about 4 years ago. It's one of those things you have to witness to understand. |

Tomb of the Unknowns - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The first 24-hour guard was posted on midnight, July 2, 1937. The Tomb of the Unknowns has been guarded continuously, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, since that time. Inclement weather,[28] terrorist attacks,[29] et cetera, do not cause the watch to cease.[30]

Unbelievable. This is a great picture. I love our troops. Wish them to stay safe, during this weather, and during this war.

It doesn't take anything away from it, but it wasn't taken during Sandy according to The Old Guard. It was taken in September. Like I said, doesn't take a thing away from their watch.
Here's one from today:

One of the interviews on YouTube, it was through a news channel but somebody posted it on YouTube, said that was one of the vows, maybe one of those unwritten things. Either way, amazing individuals.

They will be out there untill its a major down pour, then they get under a tarp (but still out there) when the winds pick up and its almost unbearable they go into a little shack like building that holds awards and other things that has a direct line of sight to the tomb....these guys are rocks when it comes to this....
