Question SURVIVAL: Food & Equipment....... Let's help each other out with some tips!

I think this would come in handy to many.... Let's help each other out with some useful tips on how to survive a storm, and other emergencies.

I have a question What do you think about canned ravioli, can you eat them cold right out of the can? If so, they would surely come in handy when there is no eletric! Sure it's bad for you, but in terms of survival it's not so bad. I've heard yes, and i've heard no. What do you think?

Please list useful things that can help during a storm, or even worse conditions.... not matter how crazy. Better safe than sorry.

My tips.

FOOD:

1. A lot of water!
2. Parmalat milk - you're able to keep this out of the fridge
3. Canned fruit
4. Canned vegetables
5. Canned ravioli? lol...

I will leave room for everybody to post something. I'm sure many different people will have things on their list that you and I would have never thought of before.... so let's help each other out.

Oh yeah, and some equipment you should have.

1. Battery operated am/fm radio
2. Can opener, and a backup one...
3. Survival blanket
4. Matches - all different types: storm, waterproof... a waterproof match box.
5. Survival knife for many uses.

That's just scratching the surface, but together we can come up with a master list of things to have ready. I've seen many different lists but they all seem to have something different in one way or another. Sure most things are the same, but there are things that some would consider a need when others wouldn't. Please share yours!

Thank you in advance for your contribution.

Be prepared, people

You can eat raviolis cold from the can, they just don't taste that great.

A small camp stove and a few cans of fuel and a small pan to cook it in will solve that though.

Can not go wrong with this. Protection is very important during these times... and any time really.

battery powered radio? You're better off with a solar powered and or wind up radio... There are also solar and windup gadgets that will let you give a charge to USB devices (iPhone, most obviously).

I was thinking something along these lines. These are approved for indoor use.

Primus Stenadoor/Outdoor Camp Stove 7800 BTU Piezo Electronic Ignition

A few of these...

Long Term Food Supply - Wise Food Storage Company

And a few rain barrels...

I should note that these same food buckets can be bought at most gun shows for a few dollars less... I bought the last bucket for $190. The last case of military MRE's was $65 and a case of civilian MRE's were $50.

Don't own or can't own a gun? Stockpile ammo and use it as trade material...

Sorry, yeah, I forgot to mention that.... I actually just bought one online myself, and it does all that you mentioned.

But you can't beat a battery powered one though. With the crank you gotta do it for a few minutes just to get about 15 minutes of life on low sound. With the solar, if you have no sun you're screwed... so battery is the best imo, but doesn't hurt to buy one that has all three though like I did.

Wow this is great! I've been looking for one of these that can actually be used in doors... Thanks.
