iPad or iPad mini?

Looking for to purchase a new iPad or an iPad mini as a gift for my wife for Christmas. Not sure which one I should go with. Thoughts?

Ipad!! Go big or go home.

If its for home use? I go iPad
If she is very mobile with it? Ipad mini.

If she uses it for reading? Ipad Mini
If she uses it for everything under the sun? Ipad

I personally think the mini is too small.

im getting my daughter a MINI for christmas. for her the mini will be fine, but i would personally go with the standard IPad. The bigger the better IMO.

I would go with the iPad, I have one and its not that big so you can still take it mobile, I think the mini is a little small

Both are great devices. As others have said here, consider the usage. If it's mostly for at home, get the iPad. If it's mostly for on the road, consider the value of the smaller screen on the mini.

That being said, the iPad is nothing to carry around (in a bag) especially to people who have ever carried around a laptop.

It would be mostly used at home mainly for using the Internet and games.

go refurb ipad 3 at apple. more power and only a little more than a new mini.

If the iPad is your only choice, then I would agree with Jubei. Get a refurb iPad 3. You could always buy my gently used 64gb Wi-Fi only for $550, if that would satisfy your heart's content

Might as well go iPad4.It has the new connector double the processor speed. With that added boost should last you fior years. If youre staying at home with it just go WIFI also.

Actually yes, this is key. Whatever you get, if most of the use is at home, you only need wifi.

Most businesses offer wifi also. I didn't feel the need to spend an extra $129 for 4g and then $10 or so every month for the service

Yup, that's the only way to go for home use! I'd stick with the full size iPad, the mini doesn't really do it for me.

Agreed. The wife and I recently took a vacation. The hotel for a couple of nights was fine on an ipad 2 and ipod touch (both wifi of course).

Check out the Microsoft Surface. I really wanted an Ipad but after seeing the Surface I'm having a tough decision.

With phones turning into tethering / hotspots, you dont really need an LTE version anymore.

My wife always takes her Ipad (Wifi) everywhere she goes while I leave mine at home as I use my phone for everything. When I use her Ipad in the card, I just turn my iphone into a hotspot and use her ipad.

Go with the iPad 4, the mini is overpriced. I love my iPad and this wonderful device kept me sane while we were getting slapped around by Mother Nature here on Long Island.

It's not overpriced for a Apple product. Its overpriced compared to products like it
