Yesterday was a busy day for me - worked from 6:30 a.m. MST - 3:30 - then put the finishing touches on the chili I made for dinner in the crock pot - walked the dogs - wife got home at 4:45 from work - we ate - I had to run to class (getting my MBA, MACC and sitting for CPA in four months) - it's my final MBA class - so it's the Capstone class - one of my group members was missing - he's doing the marketing plan for our business. So we're pretty far behind and might kick him off our team.

I don't really want to because if we kick him off we'll basically take him out of the program for a semester. I don't want that on my conscious, but I want to finish everything on time. So was in class till 9:30 p.m. Got home around 10 - gathered the trash up and things to recycle -

My wife and I just bought a house - and the previous homeowners left about 40 egg crates and apple boxes in the one bedroom - it was so nice of them. So I have a garage full of boxes - that stuff plus out stuff - spent about 30 minutes breaking down boxes and filling the recycle can.

Went back inside around 10:40 and watched 20 minutes of Toy Hunter - passed out watching Key and Peele I think on Comedy Central - woke up around 1 a.m. went into bed.

Now I'm back to work at 6:30.

That was fun to tell someone about my day! Thanks Haiku

I drive a tow truck. I started earlier this year when I moved back the bay area because my career of nearly 10 years finally stopped paying the bills.

I wasn't told when I started however that I would be on call 7 days a week 24 hours a day LITERALLY. so its been a pretty difficult adjustment for me, not having days off, not being able to go to raiders games with my mom, not being able to leave town (no joke) and most importantly not being able to spend the holidays (ANY OF THEM) with my family.

Well yesterday my mom called me and told me that they are going to do thanksgiving dinner 2 hours earlier than usual, and she is going to drive up to see me afterward (1hr+ drive away) and bring me thanksgiving dinner. I am 27 y/o and I have never not spent thanksgiving with my mom. Even when I lived 4 hrs away I would still drive up every year.

It's nice to know that even though its difficult for me right now, the people in my life will make it worth it.

I am adjusting to shore duty after finishing my 6th deployment. Sitting behind this desk every day is killin' me, but is worth the extra time I get to spend with my wife and 4 yo daughter.

Going to get a haircut during lunch right now, then headed to the PO after work to mail out some cards.

Got off work at 530 am and raced home to spend time with my soon to be fiance but was bummed when I got an email stating the engagement set I ordered is now not in stock.Just gonna surf web for a little while then go to bed.Not sure if I am gonna do the weekend overtime I should for the money but was thinking of skipping it since I worked 2 hours of ot on all but 1 shift this week.Also my nephew was born 2 days ago and with my schedule I have not got to meet him yet.I am just enjoying life these days, good job, in love for the first time and racking my brain on how to pop the question.My brother told her I ordered a box of cards(she thinks I did too) and I was thinking of getting a big box and fill it with balloons and some other romantic stuff and tie a note to the single red balloon and leave a note on it saying to turn around and be on my knee and ask her . Enjoy your day I will. Cool give away you are doing , I would never use the headphones so count me out on this. =)

I just have to say that Haiku, you are one of the most generous people I have ever come across in my day to day dealings and inspire myself and other BO members to "give back" to the collecting and actual communities...I'm a 31 yr old father of two and nothing brings me greater pleasure than to spend time with my kids and I love every second I can, but I love being able to coach my oldest with his friends in soccer to try and "give back" as much as I can.

Awesome gesture from an even more amazing person!! Best wishes to you and your family over this Thanksgiving season!!!

I woke up rolled out of bed, dragged a comb across my head.

Went to school at the FINEST Univeristy in the State of Texas, Texas A&M A! A! A! WHOOP

and corrected my Asian professor on her math.
Got a test back and made an 58 but the class average was a 60, I re-did the math again and actually got a 70 Whoop!

And now i'm here typing this.

Yeah I wear one sometimes because I chomp and grind my teeth at night. Probably not the same thing, but the experience must be similar.

If you got one of the expensive ones through your dentist its barely noticable. OTC ones are pretty crappy, expect drool all over face + pillow and a possible sore throat from your mouth hanging open all night.

yeah my dentist recommended one of those to me. This one is a bit different in that it pushes your lower jaw foreward. Apparently that prevents your lower jaw from relaxing and sinking back into you throat and blocking your airway

First off, Thank You for doing what you do on these boards..... I have been here since '07 and love all the "good guys" that take care of this hobby..... That being said, here is a bit about me and my background..... I started collecting in 1978 with my Dad and older brother..... We would collect certain players and try to get all of their cards that were put out by Topps..... I remember vividly sitting at the kitchen table going through all the stacks of cards reading the backs..... It's when collecting was fun..... As years passed we kept up our collection.... My father retired as a Sergeant with the Chicago Police Department in 2011.... Before he retired he worked "side jobs" to keep the family afloat.... One of those side jobs was security at the old Chicago Stadium.... As a perk, my brother and I would get to go to all the events with my Dad for free.... I remember fetching balls for Michael Jordan as he shot around before the gates opened.... But back then he was just Mike, not MICHAEL JORDAN !!!! My brother and I were so well known in the Stadium that we could walk anywhere we wanted, including down to the locker rooms... When I turned 16 I was offered a job with the Blackhawks..... I was their locker room "Stick Boy".... I did that for about 2-3 years.... Some really great memories and some great memorabilia ..... I was given a pair of Darren Pangs leg pads to use for my High School Hockey Team.... I had auto photos and pucks of Gretzky (I still have a photo).... My favorite piece was a game-used stick autographed to me by Mario Lemieux from his rookie season.... Well as years passed, my parents ended up splitting up (Really ugly).... I went to live with my Dad in a small apartment .... When we moved out of the house, my Mother took my entire collection and sold it to someone (Except for my 1 Gretzky photo) Everything I had collected up until then was gone !!!! I still loved the hobby and continued to collect.... 8 years ago I was hired by Chicago as a Police Officer ..... Walking in Dad's footsteps..... I married my best friend (17 years together, 8 years married ...just had our anniversary Monday)..... We have 1 beautiful Daughter, Allison who is 3 years old..... With my job being as stressfull as it is, I need an escape at times.... I use card collecting and Poker as those escapes.... My family all moved out to Vegas years ago so I take my family out to see them as much as possible.... Just last month, I had an experience that will never be forgotten at work.... Long story short, an offender I was chasing pulled a gun and attempted to shoot me as I grabbed him from behind..... I was able to subdue the offender and go home that night with the same amount of holes in me that I began the day with.... I guess the reason I tell that short story is to let you guys know that life is short.... Nothing is gauranteed, including tomorrow...... To see someone give like you do is fantastic..... It's what this hobby, and more importantly, life is all about..... Thanks for giving me the opportunity to get my story out there.... If I happen to win some new headphones that I can use at the Poker Tables great.... If not, no biggie..... It was nice to be able to remember some of these stories and share them with others.... Sorry for the long read..... Hope everyone has a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season !!!!!!
