broken laptop what to do with it

wanting to get as much as i can for this broken laptop. so how do i do this. do I open it up and take everything apart and sell the parts, or do i just take the hard drive out and sell it as is without the hard drive ?

btw it is an hp hdx 16t i think its from 2009

What is wrong with it, exactly? Busted screen, doesn't boot up, battery bad...

depending on what's broken, you can always buy replacement parts and get it back up again.

doesn't boot up. i am wanting to get a cheap laptop that is very light weight this is more of a heavy do it all gaming laptop.

Does it make any noises when you hit the power button? Does the battery light come on when you plug it into the wall?

its a registry problem i found where to fix it online but i can't go into safe mode to fix it because i don't know the windows password. i always just swipe my finger to login so i don't remember the password.

Can't you just boot into safe mode as admin, and remove the password from the primary account?

i fixed it sort of i just booted it up with unbuntu
