Going to the Bahamas...Need Advice

My wife and I will be going to the Bahamas on a Royal Carribean cruise right before the new year. The cruise stops at Nassau from Noon until midnight so we will have 12 hours on the island. My question is for those of you who have been the the Bahamas what do you recommend we do in the 12 hours that we are there? The cruise offers excursions but not sure if I am going to get one of those or just take a cab to where we want to go. I am really looking forward to this trip because my wife and I have never been to the Bahamas before.

scuba diving is great in the Bahamas.

Spend the day at Atlantis. Get towel service and use their facilities!

Dont waste your money with the Cruise excursions. If you want to do excursions, go to the beaches and pay for it there. Saves you money. Plus if you're going to Atlantis, dont pay to get access to their beach. Ask the locals and they'll show you the public beach access. The public beach access gets you into the Atlantis Beach because they're one in the same.

Word of wisdom, Bahamas is not a place you want to be wondering around after sunset.

Who cares about the beach. You want to use the lazy pool and the waters slides!!

You can get towel service comped if you gamble at the casino. Thats why I did.

Don't get sucked into letting some "native" fiddle with your wife's hair. They will charge $2 per bead.
