Default Graduated College Today

Went from a 1.63 GPA in High School to now graduating from the University of Edinboro with a Bachelors in Business Administration.

I'm 50% posting this thread to toot my own horn and 50% to encourage high school students currently struggling in classes. Never let anyone tell you you can't do something!

It's a celebration!

Congrats OP, my stepsister had a GPA of 0.9 (I didn't know that was possible) and gave up because she didn't try. This shows that college is a second chance to make it. Congrats!

Haha come on, many people wish they could. Is it an accounting job? Be even more lucky if it is.

LOL @ all the get a job posts. I'm working on it. I worked through college working 30-35 hrs per week worked 95% of every Friday and Saturday night for the past 3 years. I can't wait to work 40-50 hours a week with a set schedule and potential weekends off. Sounds like vacation

Congratulations! If you don't mind sharing, how do you manage to get into college with a GPA that low?

You can get a low GPA but have a ACT/SAT that vouches for you.

Strong SAT's. My problem in HS is I knew my ability and I knew I didn't have to try in order to pass. I never did HW or studied, just took the tests and quizzes and amassed a solid slew of C's, D's & F's for final grades. I never missed class, never got into drugs or alcohol (have never even tried either), I just saw the big picture and believed in my ability to do well on the SATs. I knew that would be my key into getting into college, and after I was accepted my HS performance would never matter.....and worst case scenario I knew I was 50% Hispanic and that would get me in somewhere lol

The worst part is paying back the loans. Read a story last week that the number of university administrators has increased at a rate 60% faster than university professors. Top loading the school is increasing college costs at unparalleled rates.

Great work on your degree! If all goes well I'll finish my masters in Dec. '13.

Average amount of loans owed by a college graduate $25,000. The average college student makes $52,000 out of college, high school is $32,000. You almost pay it all back in one year. Plus 1/3 of students have no loans when they leave college. Student loans aren't nearly as bad as they seem, and it is worth it with the jobs we get with it.
