Maybe the guy sold it to you because he was running out of Gas.

Seriously, try popping it off with a screw driver, the if the dealer above was able to take it off then you should be able to.

Given he just bought it, I'd take it back and let them dink with it. If he busts it, then he'll be at fault. I would think they'd have a few gas cap in stock they could put on it, but I wouldnt pay for it.

A 1/4 tank of gas in an Aveo will last you roughly 4 months, so you are just fine.
