Default Any guitar players here?

Anyone play guitar here? I picked one up years ago and had a few lessons then got out of it. Lately I have wanted to start playing again so do any of you know of any good books or dvd's that will help teach me? I haven't played it in a few years so I think I will take it in and get it tuned up and new strings ect..... This is what I have sitting in my closet.

Hilarious! As for the OP I'm learning at the moment. Like anything it's hard but it's possible to be self taught. I don't know of any CDs DVDs or anything useful.

I guess the best thing to do is go on YouTube and watch some videos

Practice scales and keys, learn music theory. <- those are the keys to being a good guitar player outside of the hand/finger coordination.

Learning Music Theory is the difference in being a guitar player and being a musician. To make it more enjoyable I always promote learning music theory.

Note: It's not that tough, if I can do it, anybody can.

I've been playing for 12 years, actually minored in music education my first two years of college. I'd encourage you to find someone locally who can give you lessons again, Mel Bay has also produced some extremely helpful and understandable literature. (Mel Bay Guitar Chords: Mel Bay: 9780786629138: Amazon.com: Books) Also see his "Guitar Method" series. Hope this helps, feel free to PM with any questions. BTW, this is my pride and joy...
