Default Chairman of Upper Deck, Richard McWilliam, passes away

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but it looks like the CEO and founder of UD, Richard McWilliam, has passed away. An email was sent to the friends of UD confirming this.

Wonder how old he was? I always liked his UD 'sign-off' on the back of GU and Autos.
Sad day for his family & friends.

No matter how old I get, I always love seeing his signature on the back of autograph/memerobilia cards. I feel like he's personally assuring me that the card is real!

Sad day for the hobby. Regardless of how you may feel about his recent history, he helped shape the hobby into what it is today.

No company is perfect, and in a hobby like this people will always have complaints, but I agree 100% with your statement.

Im indifferent. With the fraud charges from Konami, starting the printing plates back up for high selling error cards and not paying players for their autos (Kareem took UD to court for non payment). I cant say im sad to see him go!! Pretty sneaky guy to be loved in my opinion.

Oh no, don't get me wrong, he did some terrible, terrible things as CEO. But without him and some of the original people at Upper Deck, this hobby that we've come to love wouldn't be nearly as big as it is today.

Hopefully this won't become a Steve Jobs/Michael Jackson type scenario, where people begin to worship him posthumously. McWilliam did a lot for the hobby, and brought it to where it is today. But he screwed a lot of people out of a lot of money.

With all of this scrutiny he faced, does anyone think he took care of himself?

Geez...you'd think the company he helped co-found and being the C.E.O he would get some sort of memoriam on their website....disgraceful!

Not over cards, "Frances" This guy was a scumbag, the people he screwed and the thieving and lying this guy was a bad person. I could care less about the company itself, I'm talking about the person.
