How long do I have to pay for item won on ebay?

Just won yesterday and received this message today. I normally pay instantly but I bid and won with plans on paying on the 15th when I get paid. Received this message today:

Please pay for the item you purchased if not I will be forced to re-list or seller to other bidder


I'm not too familiar with the eBay rules on payments because like i said I normally pay instantly but bid and won with the intent of paying 3 days later not thinking it would be a big deal. I guess this seller is hurting for funds Can he re-list that quick and if so will I be hit with a NPB??

he has to give you I believe at least 4 days. let me go check. Can you post a link to his auction? Or pm me if you don't want everyone on him. Just want to see how it is worded.

4 full days until he can file as Unpaid Item, another 4 days until he can re-list.

You have 4 days after that he has to file a nonpaying bidder then you have 4 more days till he can close the case

If I'm not mistaken you have to wait 7 or 8 days before you can even open a NPB case so you should be fine, probably just a cranky person

Yes 8 days in total. I would say on a side note common courtesy if you dont intend to pay right away is to message him before even bidding asking for the 3 days. Either way, he has to give it to you. Just wish there was better communication on Ebay

4 days but if you have time to bid you have time to pay, I try to pay within 1 hour of winning an item unless I am not at home. If it is going to take more than two days to pay I usually email the seller and let them know.

false.... 8 days... after 4 complete days the buyer can open an unpaid item case and exactly 4 days after that the can close it and you get hit with NPB

Oops. Sorry about that. I stand corrected.

The harassment after 12 hrs has gotten out of control on eBay. I give 14 days. I'll check in with the buy on the 12th or 13th day, but I let them alone prior to that outside of sending an invoice.

you actually have 7 days right up before it gets to day 8 because on day 4 they can open a case then close it on day 8 so you have right up until exactly 8 days to pay technically before any kind of penalty

As Ive become more of a seller I allow a week, hen message, if no response I open a calim around 8th day...

I know sometimes people dont not have funds ready but all I ask is to communicate..

Also, the seller in ur case sounds like a jerk...

8 days and, unless you're a deadbeat, POS, you should pay within 36 hours. It takes less than a minute to pay and you should have the money available before you buy.

normally I agree. However, if you are going to get paid on the 15th and you win on the 13th or 14th I don't see a big deal.

ibleed, be prepared to receive whatever you won packed or shipped horrible. if the dude is complaining already then you should expect the worst. I know we all have to start somewhere but 12 hours requesting payment is nuts. I have it set up for auto case openings on day 4, and after that is when I worry that I just won't get paid since the buyers end up getting reminders every day until the case closes. I also have pay immediately set up unless it's an actual auction or offer acceptance.
I personally will pay right away or maybe the next day at the latest unless I plan on bulking orders w/one seller (even then I contact the seller)

I agree and like i said i normally do pay instantly but was short when the bid was ending and didn't want to lose out on the PC item. He'll get his money at midnight tonight when direct deposit hits the bank.

I hope not, at worst I'd expect slow shipping since i was a few days on payment but poor shipping/packaging would be kinda childish IMO.

Replied to his message when I made this thread about paying tonight but he/she never responded. Oh well we'll see how it goes.

No. Technically it's 8 full days. You can not open a claim for a full 4 days to the second after the item ends. Then you must wait another 4 full days to the second before you can issue the strike. That's 8 days.
