If someone goes through step 1, I don't think step 5 is really the main issue.

save yourself 400 calories, just because you are gonna have 900 calories doesn't mean you need 1300 calories. And yes it makes a difference. say you have 3 a week, thats a pound every 3 weeks, thats almost 18 pounds a year!!!

plus the diabetic people and the sugar

and let's be honest, no one likes the diet taste unless they have become use to drinking it, usually for a reason

This ^^^^

It actually makes sense to have diet soda if your going to eat any fast food (which you should try to avoid at all cost). Pouring sugary pop down the gullet with all of the other carbs in fast food makes for a mega calorie loaded meal with even simpler sugars to worry about.

I prefer diet coke/pepsi over regular strictly based on taste

I also prefer fountain over bottle when I do have soft drinks.

For some its preference, for some its a way of life. Who cares!

I don't do that, I usually drink water with everything. I enjoy an occasional trip to McDonald's and I really don't see anything negative coming from it personally. I'm 6' 3" and about 195 so it's not like it's making me gain a bunch of weight.

I have always wondered, if you go into a place that says "no shoes, no shirt, no service" if you go in with boxers, NO PANTA, shoes and a shirt on will you get service?
