Just thought I'd throw this out there, see what you guys think.

Is there any sense in buying a Angus Bacon & Cheeseburger meal Large with a Diet Coke? Or a Double Whopper large with a Diet if you like Burger King?

It makes no sense to me. Why would someone so health conscious enough to drink Diet Coke have a thrid pound of meat or more in their sandwich.

Makes no sense to me. Been thinking about this all day but reasons escape me.

Maybe they like the taste of diet coke better. Can't have sugar or something in the regular coke.

Most of the time, the people doing this are in denial. They know and accept that Coke is bad for them so then opt for the Diet Coke. They figure that all the calories the are about to consume in the meal is ok because the DIET Coke will offset the poor choice. I have a friend that does this all the time. He says "Well it would have been worse had I not got the Diet Coke"

Josie, But there is more 2-3 times the number of sugar in the third pounders at McDonalds. I mean if they got a medium QPC and a coke it would be less sugar than an Angus Bacon & Cheese Large with a Diet. If you have diabetes, a Hamburger would set your sugar level crazy!

Not to mention what a Angus Bacon & Cheese burger would be. Bread is loaded with sugar and so are the fries. Do people realize this?

I don't touch Diet Soda. If I'm watching my calories and don't have room for a regular soda, I'll drink water. There's something off about some of these "diet" and "fat free" products.

Also, the Fries are the worst part for you, not the soda or the burger.

I've been drinking more water lately or coffee without sugar. I don't have diabetes, but I'm watching what I eat carefully as my family has a bad history of diabetes. People are really running themselves into the ground the way they eat.

Like the person said above, Fries also are very bad for you, and a large fry can shock a person with diabetes like crazy.

I drink Diet Coke. I drink Diet Coke more for taste. I also favour fountain drinks over can/bottle. Its the only time I drink pop/soda.

As for diabetes and sugar intake? Its a huge mixed bag of balance. Its not just sugar that increases your blood sugar level. Its all carbs. Carbs just like sugar turn into glucose. Glucose in turn raises your blood sugar level. Adding more fat to a diet elapses time for break down as well. Adding sodium content and you're just piling on top.

On that note, this gave me the urge for Mc Ds for dinner! but Ive got steak ready for the grill tonight so no go!!

Diet Coke tastes much better than Coke, to me. That said, I have given up aspartame.

The reasoning makes sense, but sometimes people don't order diet coke for health reasons. I don't order it for health reasons. I order it because I like it a lot more than regular Coke. I think it tastes better, probably because I'm addicted to it. I guess I'm a "Diet Coke Head."

Step 2: wait in line/read menu
Step 3: order Angus burger or QPC or whatever
Step 4: get fries with that
Step 5: order Diet Coke (or go fill up your cup with Diet Coke).

If someone goes through steps 1-4, I don't think step 5 is really the main issue.

Because I prefer the taste of diet coke. It has absolutely nothing to do with me thinking it will offset the 4k calorie triple whopper I'm about to inhale. Diet soda just tastes better to me. I can't stand all the syrup in regular soda

Me too! I still majorly crave diet green iced tea. I did lose 4 lbs though since I stopped drinking it.

I remember when I use to work at MD's and they had their 10 chesseburgers for 10$, always cracked me up when someone would order a diet coke with the 10 artery clogging cheeseburgers

What about a double baconator with 1 leaf of lettuce...so now it's a vegetable serving AKA a salad. Also, people will get the "healthy" item, then eat excessive quantities of it.
