HELP-Who Gets the Bigger Room?

I am moving in March and have a tough decision on my hands. I am moving from a 2 Bedroom to a 3 Bedroom. The kids were sharing a room before and now they can each have their own room, but the dilemma is that one room in quite larger than the other. I have a son who is 14 and a daughter who is 11. My son is a huge sports fan and loves collecting signed pictures and other signed items but my daughter is generally in her room with friends playing games, doing make-up, and all of that other girly garbage (no offense to any females).

Anyone have any suggestions or reasons why one should get the larger room over the other?

In our family age always decided who got the bigger room. When you went away to college, you were shifted to a different room since you were not around the house all the time.

Age always won in my house too growing up, I moved into the larger room when my sister moved out if the house, I was the youngest of two

And for all the activities. Not sure if you saw Step Brothers, but I thought of that.
I got the bigger room, than my sister. Someone else said son= more chores.
Well that is true, and since I got the bigger room, I have to do a lot more around the house

I think you should have a contest.

Have them build a house of cards and whoever is responsible for the house coming down gets the smaller room.

It seems to be the ONLY fair way to do it.

OR let them share the bigger room and rent out the samller room to a 17 year old Korean exchange student, female of course.

Conventional wisdom is the oldest child gets the room.

Reality is whoever has more stuff and needs the bigger room should get it. Last thing you want is the living room in your nice new house to be taken over by the kid who doesn't have any space in their room while the bigger bedroom sits unused and rather empty.

Do what is in the best interest of your family not a specific person.

I liked the house of cards contest idea, but here's how I'd do it.

Have a contest. They'll each build you a house. Whichever house is nicer, that builder gets the bigger groom.

Then you move into the nicest house, your wife into the second nicest, and the two kids get decent sized
rooms in the apartment.

Give it to the girl, she is 11, and according to you is always in her room with friends doing "girlie" stuff. I know how it is, have an 11 year old myself. Giving the girl the bigger room, will keep her and her friends in there longer and out of your way.

Are you taking the smallest room and allowing the kids to have the two biggest rooms?

Do they both want the big room? Do they both had the same sized closets? Same view? Closest to the bathroom? There may be other features that make the small room attractive.

In the end, I would probably try to paint pros and cons of each room, then let the oldest decide. Or this could be a chance to teach the oldest boy about being a gentleman and letting the lady go first...

Whoever is in their room more on a regular basis should get the room. If its equal then the older one gets it

Age has to get it, there is nothing else that is fair, plus when your boy moves out in 4 years she gets the room, and almost has it as long as he will get to have it.
