Default does anyone think about the food they eat?

I'm currently enjoying some bacon and just wondered if the pig I'm eating was nice and had plans other than becoming delicious bacon.

Well that depends. Is it farm fresh bacon or stuff in a box that was in the frozen foods aisle at the market? If it's the latter it's most certainly not pig...

I've always wondered how we discovered what's edible and what isn't (like figuring out we needed to cook certain things that we can't eat raw) without killing ourselves off hundreds or thousands of years ago.

I've wondered whose idea it was to pull on those things that hang from the cow and drink the white stuff that comes out.

I eat what I want to eat when I want to eat it. You only live once. I could care less where it comes from as long as it tastes good.

I have been thinking about the sugar I consume lately. Instead of having cookies or ice cream during lunch I save the sugar for a soda for dinner.

And I do sometimes think about that chicken that I just ate...

half my meals consist of deer meat. We shoot and process all our meat our selves. The deer thought to himself right before I shot him that "man that sure looks and smells like a human" then boom. Feeds my family til next season. Then all over again. My fiances uncle owns a pretty big cow and pig farm and we also process cow and pig ourself. We're not believers in extra added junk in our food around here

Roc and Rag find fruit. Roc eats fruit, Roc dies. Rag sad. Rag goes back to village and says "fruit bad".

I got my bacon from the butcher this week. We just has rice, bacon, and eggs.

I am sure the pig was leading a happy, care free life before it became my dinner. I ate it because I didn't want it to die vain.

@danshakespeare- I'm not as big into deer meat as alot of people but I'd love to buy a pig or cow from your family after it is processed. I have family near Iowa so I'd have it picked up if that is possible

I eat what tastes good. I believe God made things with a good taste so we would know to eat them and he made things that taste bad as a warning sign to stay away from them. Common sense. Also, I CAN'T STAND the idiots that count carbs, calories, etc. and preach about how eating healthy will add 5 years to your life. That would be a great idea if it added the 5 years when I was 20 or 30, but the way I look at it, I just don't see it as a big deal if I live to be 90 instead of 85. I'll be old and senile either way.

Not to mention people with seemingly good health die far too often from random illness at a young age.

I have wondered what you do eat though. Anytime there is a food thread your posts suggest a very strict diet.
