Default Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day to me...

The daughter and I celebrated the day by spending some quality time at Gander Mt. Was going anyways - just happened to be a federal holiday as well.

New toys for dad...

Mossberg 500 JIC

Springfield XD-9 Sub Compact

Went to buy ammo that was on sale.. walked out with quite a bit more

hah, i wish i could just walk in to a gun store and buy a pistol.
here in NJ, you need a permit, and it takes 2-4 weeks to be "cleared" for one

shotguns, rifles and airguns i can just walk in and buy though....

i can buy the coolest semi auto rifle ever made the day i want it.
but if i wanna buy a SIG .22lr pistol, i have to wait a month.

yeah, some of the specific laws are messed up

I could have brought home the shotgun today, but decided to wait the 48 hours and just pick it up with the pistol. One less piece of paperwork to fill out.
So they are paid for, but will not be in hand until Thursday morning - hence the "stock" photos.

Nice gun, if you don't mind me asking what all did the springfield xd come with and how much did you spend? I am looking at the springfield xd service model 4" barrel myself. Also how is the recoil on it when you shoot it? (I have only shot a glock before that is why I haven't purchased the springfield yet).

I love those Mossberg Just in Case shotguns. I've been considering buying one for myself for quite a while now.

I pretty much have the same set up. Mossberg ATP -500 with the pistol grip and then I have a ruger lcp 380 love shooting the shotgun!

Yeah, I realized that after the thread was already submitted. Nothing intended other than to "showoff" my recent purchases.

I currently have the xd 4" barrel in .40 as well. All new Springfields come with a belt holster, 2 magazines and some other misc stuff. Check the website and see what is all in the case. I haven't had a chance to shoot the 9mm yet, so as far as recoil on that I coulnd't tell ya. I have talked with couple of officers who say the glocks and springfields are extremely similar across the board - accuracy, recoil, etc. The .40 is pretty standard from what I can tell, nothing overwhelming but kicks ya enough to know whats going on.

No doubt, man. I would had said the same thing if you had made the thread on Lincoln's b-day

Nice. I am not sure which version I want. I am thinking the .40 but I have heard I should start with a 9mm

I started with the .40 and was going to use that as my concealed carry weapon. Picked up an older Ruger 9mm and liked how it felt. Decided to get the Springfield 9mm in the sub-compact for carry instead. Now I just need it to warm up a bit so I can get to the range.

Either way you start you will probably end up with both anyhow
