Default Do you wash dishes before you put them in the dishwasher?

Yes or No? I do and my family doesn't which I hate. Then the food gets caked on and I have to scrub it. I think I should tell them to find some other place to spend the holidays since they can't even wash a dish properly

Dude, I agree. I do rinse them instantly as soon as they go into the sink. Nothing worst then having to wash stuff 4 times to get them clean because people are to lazy to take 2 seconds to rinse them

Does rinsing them get all the food off? I usually take a sponge to it and go over it.

my wife is pretty strict. Once im done my dish, im told to clean off large things on it like noodles, veggies etc. Then im told to put it in the sink and pour water on it so it doesnt dry up. Same with coffee cups. Add water. At night she loads the dishwasher and runs it overnight when electricity use is at its cheapest.

We do most of our laundry and dishwashing overnight to take advantage of off peak hour enegery use.

Rinse, yes. Always.

Or if something has been somewhat dried on there (after either being microwaved or whatever) I soak in water in sink, then rinse.

I'm far too OCD to NOT rinse and get that crap off before hitting the dishwasher.

We rinse.

If you are going to wipe them you may as well just wash them by hand and save the electricity.

I rinse and use a small scrubbing tool to get any sticky stuff loosened up. More than anything, I just don't want stuff drying up on the plate/bowl.

yes, but i don't wash it as hard as i would without the dishwasher. it's mostly to get the majority of food stains off, and a partial rinse. it wouldn't get as clean just going straight in the dishwasher, although that's my personal opinion, not something i've ever tested before.

You know, I think it really depends on my mood. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.
