Both cars are great. Mustangs for the most par have had great body lines and TONS of accessories. I do enjoy the 60's 2+2 probably the most, the newer designs have some great eye appeal to them.
I probably like the Camaro more (Chevy guy) - but if I could substitute it for a 1969 Trans-Am Ram Air IV, I would in a heartbeat.

I think those are the best and "strongest" looking years lol. Eleanor is really the only old kind I like (I blame gone in 60 seconds for that love), the ones around the late 90's/early 2000's look cheap and ugly (especially the tail lights), the 05's and up STOCK models look bleh. New GT500, Boss, etc all look sexy.

For $8k less I'd rather have the Camaro ZL1 over the GT500. In this road test, they were Dead even. The interior/exterior points were bs in the poll, as well as the driving excitement and the storage space- people don't buy these to tote luggage. Dead even, maybe give it up to the ZL1
The Results: ZL1 vs GT500 - Road & Track

When the mustang came in 2 designs. A trunk LX and a GT Fox body (hatchback). There used to be a company here in Canada that did body kits and suspensions for Mustangs called DECH. I used to love their aftermarket style when I was in school.

Remember the dupont 30 coat pearl paint they had? The one that changed colours in the sunlight? Pretty tacky looking back at it today, but was pretty impressive a decade ago. |

D. Trans Am
As long as it's American Muscle it's all good. I hate that ricer crap. They sound like pissed off weed wackers. Never lost a race yet. Beat Camaros, 77 Trans Ams, Turbo Civics, 68 Corvette, Mustangs. Took my dad for a ride in it a while back, he has a 2000 Trans Am WS6 Ram Air 375 hp 6 speed manual, asked him what he thought, all he said "Faster than mine." My mom has 1991 GTA (Grand Trans Am) and she says mine scares her. Don't get me wrong, I have mad respect for every kind of Muscle Car. I'm just a TA kind of guy. My cousin has a 2008 Mustang GT, pulled the motor and put in the better truck motor and threw on some twin turbos. My god that car is fast. 1100 horsepower will make you need to change your pants... Here's what I got.. 1984 Trans Am (Fully loaded options) 357 c.i. 350 Horsepower 375 lb ft Torque and 8 mpg 1988 350 Truck Block bored .040 over 5 speed manual T-5 Transmission (Stock) (would love a T-56) 2.73 Ratio Rear End (Stock) 4-Bolt mains Ported and Polished Cylinder Heads Edelbrock Performer RPM Air-Gap Intake Manifold Ohio Crankshaft Roller Rocker Arms Speed Demon 750 cfm Carb Holley 110 GPH Fuel Pump ProForm 50,000 volt distributor Wolverine Mild Camshaft Hooker Shorty Headers Flowmaster Exhaust w/ Cut-Out Centerforce Dual Stage Clutch B&M Short Throw Shifter Subframe Connectors (It's T-tops) Next up: 3.83 Gears Rear Lift Bars (Need traction for that posi rear end!) Paint Minor Interior work White Face Gauges ![]()

my step father has a 1967 Firebird with the 326 h.o. and 4-speed in his basement waiting for restoration.
In the garage they have a 2012 Mustang GT convertible. The mustang is way faster but in this case, I'd rather have the firebird (besides, I've got a 5.0 in my F150, in a couple years it may get a blower...so ~600hp at the wheels) Oh, and FWIW, Ford's ecoboost can be a real sleeper. F150 guys are gaining 100+hp at the wheels from a tune, intake and exhaust...3.5l, 400+hp and wicked torque. I imagine some of the ecoboost car guys are seeing similar results.
