I remember the days when I thought I was cool because I was in AP classes.

Granted, you REALLY have to love the details of our system of government to enjoy that AP class

As a current history teacher it was certainly well worth it for me to take those courses.

Know this was from April, but I'll chime in anyway.

Took AP USH this year. It is extremely boring, mostly facts and statistics which a lot of people hate.

I took it and got a 4, so I took my credit and haven't looked back

Trying to take AP Government online as my school doesn't have it.

Only AP class I took in high school was Biology. I could have taken Calculus, but that would have been a waste of time, as I'm no dork. If I had to choose between the pair of those, I'd go with both. U.S. History is far more limited than World History with respect to time, so that's easy (go back as far as 1492, when probably one of the most over-celebrated, worst people in U.S. History gets credited for discovering something he didn't discover, all whilst raping and pilaging Indian women and children, and enslaving anyone he could)...same for U.S. Government. I mean, how far do you go back, 1776?

I took AP US History in high school. Our teacher pretty much did it as college class. He didn't care if you paid attention. Only half of us took the exam, which was the first time more than 5 students took it at one time.

I made a 3. As other posters have said, make sure the university/college takes AP credits and that they are a certain score. Some take 3s and above, some take only 5s, and some don't take AP scores at all for credit.

While i was very good in the math and sciences, history was one of my favorite classes.

Our school didn't have very many AP classes you could take (Spanish, Calculus, US History, Physics AB, Chemistry). We had a branch of a community college near our campus so we could take dual-credit classes.

I took APUSH and hated it. I enjoy history very much but I prefer to visit a place, hear about something firsthand or watch a documentary than read countless pages of a dry textbook. On top of that, I hate writing essays of that nature. I suppose if I really tried I could have done better.

Everything depends on the teacher but for myself and what I have heard from others, it is simply not an enjoyable class.

P.S. You know what sucks? Taking AP Micro first semester (only offered that way) and having to take the test at the end of the year with only a very brief review. I enjoyed that class and 'got it' but just the break in between was too much between other classes, finals and football almost all year, etc. Still got a 3 which got me Social Science credit in college. Good Luck

Send a message via Skype™ to Strasburg

It really depends what your into.

If you love US history, like myself, then go for either one.

If you hate US history, go for GOVT.
