Was at my cabin from Thursday until yesterday, fishing wasn't good. A few hits, some bluegils and bullheads, and that's it. Nothing of note

Went out for what will probably be the last fluking trip of the summer for me. Ended with a fairly decent 'bang'. Nailed two keepers while bucktailing. Nothing to brag about but it will do! After all, it was very difficult to even catch one keeper the past few years due to the insane size limits so I will be thrilled with two any day. This year has been a great fluking year. Hoping to head out for the fall run to catch some striped bass in a month or two.

Yep. Got back about an hour or two ago (actually left at 9, read the times wrong).

It went pretty good. We didn't win the pool, but we were close to it (our porgy was about an inch smaller than the winner).

We (my father, little brother, and I, by the way) started the day and actually threw the first few caught back, not sure on their policy for keeping the fish (our first time on the Celtic Quest). I eventually caught one of the bigger ones and the guy goes, "Do you want a bucket for that?"

So, from there on, we kept the ones we caught (all but one baby my little brother caught).

We went home with 7, could've been around 15 if we kept them from the beginning. Both my father and little brother caught two at once (all 4 being keepers), and I actually had a "buzzer beater," catching one right at the last call to pull our rods up.

In the end, it was just a great day. Guy even offered me a job when my father mentioned that I loved to fish. He said come down next May and, when you start, it's pretty much just fishing. Then as you gain more experience, you can cut the bait, set the anchor, fillet the fish (which I already know how to do), all that fun stuff.

So, I guess I know my 2014 summer job haha.

I'd have pics up, but my iPod is glitching and not working right now. I'll try my best to get some up.

Thats awesome! Yea they follow the size limit guidelines over there....they would receive hefty fines if they didnt. Thats awesome, a job offer from the CQ does not come often...very well known boat. Make sure you keep in touch with them. Throw some pics up

Nope that one is from Lake of the Woods, Minnesota.

Ya this was off the dam in 08 I think. That year was awesome, I caught 60 or so eyes over the 21" limit. I lost that ones bigger sister about 15 seconds before I caught her. I didn't even get reeled in before she hit. The other was pushing 10 lbs.

Awesome fish, ajw9356! I always used to say I'd do the same with the first large mouth I ever caught, but my first one was unexpectedly caught while fishing for blue gill, so I just threw it back.

I'll get one in the house one day, though.

Thanks bud! Pictures are about as good as a mount any day, they travel much easier and are a ton less expensive. I have 3 mounts, my 8.5lb and 10.5lb walleyes and 7lb bass caught ice fishing for crappie with super light tackle. All in all, probably not worth the money when it comes down to it. Take a snapshot and buy a $10 frame. I also am conscious when taking a fish out of the system, the 8.5lb eye comes from a lake with yearly stocking and no natural reproduction to any degree. The 10.5 lb walleye was actually one taken by someone else that measured the same and looked a lot like mine as far as size, that way I didn't actually remove a large sucessful breeder from the population. The bass comes from a very fertile lake with a wonderful big bass population and should not have affected the overall heath of the population, it's the only bass I've taken from the lake in close to 20 years of fishing it.

I don't know, they're working for mine. I uploaded them the same way I upload my cards.

The pics are in my bucket under the "Fishing" tab.

Thanks bud! That's funny, I almost picked up one of those up (it might have been a sail fish, can't remember exactly) but the fish was nearly 6' long and I couldn't figure out where in the world I'd keep it. They only wanted $150 or something which was super cheap but I also had to drive 400 miles round trip to pick it up. I would have picked it up no matter what, if I didn't have the long trip. I think they guys wife gave him an ultimatum about the fish. I think some of the coolest replicas are the Mahi Mahi, they look awesome if you have ever gone for one of them! Good luck on the Marlin hunt, we raised one when I fished in Costa Rica but he only came after the teaser and disappeared right after showing up, only thing we caught was some sunshine and an empty cooler of beer.
