Everyone always says the same old Lou Malnatis and Giordanos for Pizza. Theyre both good, but the best pizza I have ever had in my life was from Pizzeria Due. Ask anyone who has ever tried it. Im sure theyll agree.

Hot dogs- Gene and Judes
Beef- Johnnys

Shedd Aquarium is awesome, but try going on a free day.
Navy Pier is pretty cool.

Definetly, theres also a place called "epic burger" that I recently tried. Pretty good burgers, try it if you want, its near one of the red line stations

Second City a comedy club is always a good time depending on who's performing. Also the billy goats by navy pier underground is great if your just looking for a burger.

If you are wanting a thin crust pizza, I would recommend Pat's Pizza. It is far and away the best thin crust pizza I have ever found. I will be sure to find a way to get there myself after the National at least once.

I guess every thread needs idiotic comments. Have you only been to the southside or shady west suburbs? Chicago is generally a clean city and the food and culture is one-of-a-find. It can have it's moments- you can be anywhere in 20 minutes or if you leave at the wrong time- three hours.

Anyway, I haven't lived there in 15 years but I'd recommend Henry's Hotdogs in Berwyn (down the road from Ozzie Guillen's old house) or if you like thin crust- Homerun Inn. Giordano's or Lou Malnati's for fork eating pizza, the Gyro place in Lombard for Gyros, or Portillos for beef, etc.

Malls - Oakbrook Mall in Oakbrook (outdoor mall) or Yorktown Mall (indoor) which is about five minutes away from Oakbrook.

A couple of minutes from Wrigleyville (can't remember the street) is a great area with lots of cool shops including 2nd hand shops with great vintage clothing and furniture. Rolling Stone records is there as well.

Have you ever even been to Chicago? I am asking because I thought I remember you making a thread about what to do there. Chicago is a pretty clean city, but has it's rough areas like any other city.

Anyone else?

We'll have 1/2 day when we drive in where we will probably just find a good dinner spot and bar. Then I know at least 1 full day will just be Michigan Ave - so really I just need enough stuff to cover the 1 other day (or at least 75% of the day as we'll probably eat on Michigan Ave again)

I'm thinking maybe the Pier, maybe Aquariam, maybe a boat tour...

I'd rather not drive far from Michigan Ave even though I have in/out priveledges at the Hotel.

North or south of the river?

They just put new bike shares. Depending on the weather, you might consider grabbing bikes near Lake Shore Drive, riding to the bike path on the lake and ride north a bit. Keep in mind you have to check them back in every 30 minutes but you can check new ones right out again. I think it's $7 for 24 hours.

Also, at some point, go to The Gage on South Michigan and get a Scotch Egg. Trust me on that. If you still need something to do, after a few drinks go across the street to Millenium park and maybe hit the Art Museum. Take the lady to Russian Tea Time for a snack. Good few hours right there.

It's a shame because there's a great conservatory at Garfield Park. I've been to events there, it's not so bad, but if you don't know the area it's not recommended.

I'm not going to just do a random driving tour of Chicago hoping to stay in nice parts of town - I think Michigan Ave will be OK for a couple days.

I'll be right next to Lake Shore Drive north of the River. We are staying at the far north end of Michigan Ave

So like Chicago St./Oak St. area? There's a Divvy right there and an entrance to the bike path.

The MCA is right there too.

L'Appetito is a great place for a quick, cheap, but excellent breakfast or lunch. It's at the foot of the Hancock building (the area below street level right out in front).

My office is in the Streeterville neighborhood so I know the area pretty well.

Yeah we are staying just south of Oak Street on Michigan Ave - so we'll be right in that area.
