Default Heading to Gary, Indiana

Looking for fun stuff to do in Gary. Any suggestions? If all goes well, my next trip will be to East St Louis.

Throw on a sequined glove and red and black leather jacket and take some photos in front of 2300 Jackson St.

Umm Gary, Indiana is the biggest crap hole in the entire United States of America.

Just hop on the skyway and go downtown.

And don't go out at night in Gary.

Murder capital of the world.

I don't even go to those dirty casinos there. I'll drive further and go to a nicer one.

*my personal opinion as a white male. If you're black, disregard everything I just said. You'll be good*

Seriously? Gary, IN and East St. Louis? You use the worlds worst travel agent ever. I hope you are seeing family or friends and not looking for entertaining towns to visit.

Other than tnarg's racial "observations", he's right on the his first 4 or 5 points. The Skyway has a hefty toll ($4.00 I believe), but it's probably a 30 min drive max. Get out of there and go to Chicago, catch a Sox game or something.

"I went to Gary, IN and had a great time!", said no one ever.

Gary is a nice town
You are 1000 times more likely to get robbed that murdered if that helps...then again, you have a 1.2 times chance of being raper rather than murdered

I'm 20 minutes from Gary in Valparaiso. Go to a Railcats game then leave town immediately...oh and don't make eye contact with anyone. The area around the park is nice, but seriously, don't venture to far.

Indiana Dunes national park is nice.

Yeah this has to be a joke. I think I heard one time that Indiana didn't even want the city of Gary recognized as being in the state of Indiana.

I had a friend who said that he was coming home from some sports tournament in Chicago when he was in HS and they stopped at a Subway off the highway in Gary for lunch.

He said that the workers were behind bullet proof glass and your sandwich was passed to you through a tiny opening

bullet proof glass at a subway, think that tells you everything about a city

Wow. You guys were right. I was in Gary this afternoon and look what I saw Ronald McDonald doing!

Even Gary's Ronald is a rough customer.
