Default Just got ripped off by USPS, perfect crime.

Scheduled a pickup at work. The postman has to ring the bell at the office so he knows the name of the company. I hand him a box big enough for a laptop (and heavy enough.)

He scans something. Logic says it would be the packages. Wrong.

The box never arrives. Check scanning, and the label has been printed but it hasn't started shipping from me.

Ask them, turns out they scan the form to confirm they did the pick up but don't scan the items they are picking up. Why not? Government lawyers? Union rules?

From now on! I am now forced to walk into the post office, and stand in line to make sure these things are in the system.

Don't know how eBay or USPS is going to rule based on the item never having 'shipped'.

For what it's worth, I dropped off 8 packages, and she scanned each one. I asked her if I went online right now, would it show Acceptance? She said not until they put the scanner back on the base and did the download for the day.

I know that doesn't mean jack to your situation, but in theory, even mail carriers can scan a package as accepted, it just won't update until they pair their scanner with the base.

Sounds like he "scanned" it...

I know you can scan them in the post office. I don't think the drivers who pick up are equipped to do the same.

It's an invitation for theft.

Any real level of service by USPS has ended. They have cut the corners too far.

Tell me about it. Here's my last box of comics shipped with FRAGLE written in large red letters all over the box. Cost me $100 in damaged goods

I guess I'll start shipping in metal containers.

Studies have shown that writing "Fragile" or "Do Not Bend" on packages makes them much more likely to get beaten around. Why? Because postal workers are spiteful jerks.

That was from me! Lol

That's ridiculous a light little pwe went through that much damage. Enough damage where they would have to tape it back together, smh

It all depends on the district's protocol. Some district's require carriers to scan the actual item as accepted, and others do not. Some just want the manifest scanned as completed. Like the person said earlier, our scans are not updated on anything until the scanner is returned to its cradle. Fear not, real time scanning is coming to a pony near you. As for the whining about the packages being damaged: ALL OF OUR PACKAGES ARRIVE VIA UPS AND FEDEX AIR PLANES. Once we drop them off to either one they are at their mercy. We get #@#@#@#@ all jacked up daily. UPS dude just shrugs it off because he didn't load it or handle it. It is a shitty deal but it beats you driving it or buying an airline ticket.
