Question Trash pile find -- any help on this?

Found this in a pile of random things someone was throwing out.

Tried to find some info online, and found many different Vintage Erector sets, but none looked like this one?

I assume it's missing some of the pieces ... but any ideas as to what it may be worth?

The thing weighs like 20lbs!

Can I use it to retreave a ball from my neighbors yard? Didn't realize how valuable the ball was when we were playing with it

Looks like an old Erector set in original box. Definite condition issues. Red box metal box = 1950s, maybe $20-$50? Just a guess.


Different sets had different boxes but here's an example:

Funny thing I was just watching antiques road show with wifey and a guy just had one of these.it was bigger and more complete and pristine .but looks very similar.was super nice condition and they said 1500.so id guess about 75-100 maybe .
