Default Who Is Funnier Adam Sandler Or Jim Carrey

They Both have made some horrible movies but they both have a couple classics that will rank as top 100 comedies of all time. So who do you think is funnier when they aren't making horrible films?

Agreed... although Waterboy is one of my favorites, Jim Carrey is funnier to me.

Dumb And Dumber To (yes that will be the title) better bring it.

Comparing them at their prime I'd say Jim Carrey

Nowadays they both suck something terrible

Jim Carrey, think you also have to include his moments on In Living Color. As others mentioned there shouldn't be a guy alive that didn't think Dumb and Dumber was hilarious. Ace Ventury was a big hit that only he could do. The Mask was another that only he could pull off, there was also Liar, Liar & Bruce Almighty

Adam Sandler is a really funny guy too but a lot of his movies just really aren't memorable for their humor where its mostly him being the center like Jim Carrey is in most of his films other than Big Daddy, Happy Gilmore, the Waterboy too. I think part of me just thinks that most of Sandler's humor especially his earlier stuff comes from him making funny voices instead of having humorous moments

I think you forgot these ones:

Billy Madison
The Wedding Singer
Mr. Deeds

The Truman Show is also a great Jim Carrey movie.

Movie-wise I'd go Carrey but I'd go with Sandler on SNL over Carrey on In Living Color.

I had to vote Adam Sandler. I still quote Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy, and even Little Nicky. Ace Ventura and Dumb and Dumber are great, but outside of that, I'm not a huge fan of Jim's comedies. Plus Adam produced Grandma's Boy and Deuce Bigalow.

I grew up loving their comedies in the mid-late 90s, but for me it's Jim Carrey and it's not even close.

I loved Happy Gilmore and I pretty much have Billy Madison memorized word-for-word, but there are WAY more bad Sandler movies than good ones. Maybe it's just me and my maturity level at the time, but there were parts the first time I watched (and sometimes several times afterwards) where I am laughing to tears watching Dumb and Dumber, Ace Ventura 2, Liar Liar and Bruce Almighty.

The big difference comes when you start to see how each career as progressed. I don't think there's a Sandler movie that's come out in the last 10 years I've liked. While both of their best movies are from 15-20 years ago, I'd say Carrey has had more watchable movies in the last decade with Fun with Dick and Jane and Yes Man.

Also, while they were definitely not Jim's "funny character" movies, I enjoyed The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine as they were really unique and memorable. When Sandler goes for a movie with a somewhat more serious tone, we get Reign Over Me, Punch Drunk Love and Funny People, which I guess the critics liked, but I'd never watch again.

I'm pretty much expecting it to disappoint. Dumb and Dumber is one of my all-time favorites. IMO, they shouldn't even mess with it.

I would take jim carrey over sandler any day.
I get irritated by sandler, even when he was on SNL.

I think carrey is a way better actor also

Jimmy C by a mile.

Sandlers schtik gets old really fast. I personally think Sandler needs his buddies to keep his comedy going. Without them it all sounds the same.

My personal favourite Jim Carrey movies are

Dumb & Dumber
Me, Myself & Irene (hahaha hes got a bum chin!)

Jim Carrey's movies have held up against the test of time way better than Adam Sandler. Jim also has more talent, in my opinion.

Sandler is the pick for me

Carey has some great movies without question, but when I look at the two of them for this question, to me, the two best movies between the two of them are Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore.

If you have the two best, to me, that wins this mini battle

I forgot about Chuck and Larry. That was pretty funny. Looking at the list, I also liked Anger Management. I'd say the bad vastly outweighs the good, though. I have a hard time seeing past, Grown Ups, Grown Ups 2, Jack and Jill and Zohan.

Man, tough one. I like Sandler's general humor better, but I like Carrey better as an actor. Like I'd rather watch Billy Madison or Big Daddy than Ace Ventura or Dumb and Dumber if I'm looking for a laugh, but if I want to watch a serious movie I'd rather see Eternal Sunshine or The Truman Show than Punch Drunk Love (which I actually like) or Spanglish (yuck). I saw Funny People in theaters and it's honestly the worst theater experience I ever had, I hated that movie haha.

But the question here is who's funnier, so I'll say Sandler.
