Default Will your Canon printer/scanner scan without the printer ink cartridges?

I recently picked up a used, like new, Canon M2520 All in One that was without any ink cartridges for the printer.

The scanner want work and I was wondering if it could be because no cartridges are loaded in for the printer?

I was hoping I could at least work with the scanner in spite of this but maybe not?

Anyone have the same or perhaps a similar Canon All in One that happened to use the scanner without having ink cartridges installed or can pass along other insight?

Ink is the software they need you to buy... The hardware (the printer) is nothing to them.

There may be a way to bypass the ink on that model...

I think even if say one of the cartridges is out of ink, as long as it is still loaded, you can print even if lesser in quality.

This one has black and color ink cartridges. I just put in a new black one and nothing is in for the color. Nothing is working, printer or scanner. The online manual does mention that both cartridges need to be in place for the printer to work.

Mine won't scan unless the cartridges is in there and if it's running out of ink it won't either.

What you are googling for is if there is a way to mask or hide that the ink cartridges are empty. I've done it before on HP printers but know nothing about Canon.

Yeah my Dell scanned without any ink cartridges in. Maybe Canon is different.
