Default Zombie Movie/Show list

ok gang, i'm trying to shore up my zombie movie collection (either digital or physical format) and I need help coming up with a list of halfway decent zombie stuff. I'm listing everything i've seen below with my thoughts

here's kind of a list Corbin was working on. The best Zombie and Apocalypse type movies

Shows:
Dead Set - great miniseries
Z Nation (current on Sy Fy)- the show picked up some steam toward the end of the season and ended with a pretty solid cliffhanger.
The Walking Dead

There was a youtube choose your own adventure thing that I can't find anymore. Here's a link to one, but i don't think this is it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mynHBLmLIIY

here's another, but it's still not the one I'm thinking of. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9p1yBlV7Ges

ah, here it is. The Outbreak

Movies (Bold are favorites)

28 Days Later- sure, we'll count rage zombies
28 Weeks Later
Automaton Transfusion - great effects, but the movie ends on a cliff hanger that makes no sense. also suffers from the "must cock the shotgun every scene" problem, but there was a crazy good scene involving a fetus. It just seemed like these guys thought of cool #@#@#@#@ to film, and tried to shoehorn a story in. It does start off with a boob shot i think, and the soundtrack was enjoyable for me back then.
Autumn- based on a series of books, this is a decent movie adaptation.
Bio Zombie - japanese movie, pretty good for at least a watch.
Bloodlust Zombies- starring a porn star, so the acting is on par...
C.H.U.D.- eh...
C.H.U.D. II: Bud the CHUD- stopped taking itself seriously, was decent.
Children of the Dead- meh.
Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things- meh.
City of the Living Dead- I remember having this dvd but can't find it now, wasn't overly impressed
Dance of the Dead- thoroughly enjoyable
Dawn of the Dead (original)
Dawn of the Dead (remake)
Day of the Dead (original)

Day of the Dead (remake)- not very good
Dead & Breakfast- worth a viewing
Dead Alive- "I kick ass for the lord" is one of the greatest lines ever uttered by a priest before kung-fu kicking a zombie's head off.
Dead Heist- I remember enjoying it, but not because it was a great movie.
Dead Men Walking - crappy gun special effects, but it was ok.
Dead Snow (still haven't sat through this one all the way yet)
Detention of the Dead- saw it on hulu plus, enjoyed it for one viewing
Diary of the Dead- aside from some poor acting, I enjoyed this.
Doghouse- it WAS on netflix instant, definitely worth a watch
Fido
Flight of the Living Dead- eh
Gangs of the Dead- I actually enjoyed this one.
Garden of the Dead- I know i've watched it, but can't remember much about it. must not have been that great.
Hell of the Living Dead- first saw this on my dad's vhs recording, loved it for the boobs when i was a kid- decent flick though.
House of the Dead 2- worth 1 watch, but not all that great.
House of the Dead- kind of campy, but it was ok for one viewing.
Juan of the Dead - be ready for subtitles, but it's worth it.
Land of the Dead- meh
Last of the Living- If you can get through the first half hour, it's pretty ok.
Mutant Vampire Zombies from the 'Hood! - terrible. poor C. Thomas Howell.
Mutants- foreign film i think (subtitles), but was decent on Netflix
Night of the Comet
Night of the living Dead (original)
Night of the Living Dead (remake)

Night of the Living Dead: Reanimation- surprisingly good for one viewing. takes place in a mortuary
Nightmare City- worth a watch, and it's on netflix instant right now.
Onechanbara 1 and 2 (spelling?)- based off of a video game.
Onechanbara 3: vortex - absolutely terrible.
Outpost- not terribly impressive and kind of supernatural, which is a turnoff for me.
Planet Terror
Pontypool- I'm not entirely sure this counts as zombies, but it's a great one.
Quarantine (blatant rip off of Rec)
Quarantine 2
Rammbock - foreign (subtitles), pretty decent on netflix, on hulu plus too
Rec
Rec 2- even though this was more religious stuff than the first
Rec 3: Genesis- saw it on Netflix and enjoyed it. Rec 4 is supposedly due out.
Resident Evil series
Severed: Forest of the Dead- eh...
Shaun of the Dead
Slither- does this count?
Special Dead- worth a viewing, but utterly stupid.
Stalled- Interesting premise, stuck in a bathroom stall during an outbreak.
State of Emergency- worth one watch on netflix, but not overly great.
The Beyond- was not impressed by this despite how much love it gets from the "in" crowd
The Day- done by WWE studios, and deals more with humans than actual zombies, but they are there briefly. worth a watch though.
The Dead- eh, kind of boring.
The Dead Hate the Living- i picked this up ages ago and love how it's a zombie movie where people are filming a zombie movie. so meta.
The Horde- French film, it was decent
The Return of the Living Dead series (yes, even Rave to the Grave)
The Returned- interesting take on the zombie genre, dealing with an "antidote" situation.
The Zombie Diaries- watched it on netflix once. eh.
Zombie Diaries 2- watched it on netflix once, eh.
Tokyo Zombie- decent zomedy.
Undead- Good aussie zombie flick, even if it includes aliens.
Vampires vs. Zombies (I think, got this one at Blockbuster one day and it turned out to be kind of a soft-core porno that sucked)
Versus- kung fu, zombies, guns, what's not to love?
VHS 2- there is a snippet or two that are very much zombies, and they are phenomenal. The movie was good, but those zombie pieces were excellent.
Warm Bodies- Eh, it's decent.
Wasting Away (used to be called Ahh! Zombies!)- this is hilarious, and probably still available on Crackle. It's on Hulu Plus too- basically from the POV of zombies. it's great.
World War Z- aside from being such a disappointment compared to the book, it's ok despite not being a "zombie" movie until the last act.
Zombi - (the Fulci film i did enjoy, unlike The Beyond). Apparently ZOmbi 3 is the one with the shark vs. zombie underwater, but i don't think i've seen it all the way through.
Zombie Apocalypse- oh, how Ving Rhames had fallen by 2011...
Zombie Strippers- ridiculous premise
Zombie Wars- terra-bad.
Zombieland
Zombies Zombies Zombies- blah.
Zombiez- blah

there was one movie, hell, i might have even listed it, that had the most absurd scene. These people are running from zombies in some type of complex, and they happen upon a chapel that appears to be having service, except they are zombies in the pews and a zombie priest. As soon as they see the humans, they start to chase them. God, it was so ridiculous, but that's why it stuck with me i guess.

anyway, always looking for a new zombie experience! post your favorites.

Suggested movies I haven't seen yet:

Life After Beth
RetarDEAD
Sars Wars
Silent Night, Zombie Night
ZOmbie Hunter
Dead and Deader
Kill Zombie
Stacy
The Coed and the Zombie Stoner
Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies
Cockneys vs. Zombies
A Little Bit Zombie
Black Sheep?
Dead Heads
The Reverant
Dead Snow 2 (out yet?)
The Battery
Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies
Poultrygeist

Silent Night, Zombie Night, think it is still on Hulu, you can see me in it for a moment driving the hummer that pulls up to let Vernon Wells and Felissa Rose out.

Some low budget but great gore humor Zombie movies that I don't see on the list are

RetarDEAD
VSIII - Zombie Doom

Sars Wars - Bangkok Zombi Crisis isnt low budget and very entertaining

also not zombies but the Cannibal movies from the 80s were just as good. If you havnt seen Cannibal Ferox its worth a watch

I wouldn't list CHUD and the sequel in with Zombie movies. CHUD was a mutant movie.

interesting. i assumed that they were zombie mutants, but it's been a long time since i've seen it.

i'll tell you what, as much as The Beyond was talked up as such a great zombie movie, i was NOT impressed with it last night.

edit- i'm going to go through and bold some of my favorites in case others are interested in watching them.

I watched Detention of the Dead a few weeks ago, thinking "Man, this is going to be outrageous". It was about 5x better than I thought it would be.

Cockneys vs. Zombies was actually decent as well

*Edit - The fact that you made a list like this, and it's not in ABC order is making my OCD go absolutely bonkers, haha

The Returned is pretty good, zombie movie but pretty sparse on zombies. It's on Netflix instant.

DANCE OF THE DEAD IS ON YOUR LIST!!!!! ++++1!!!

One of my fav zombie gem flicks.

Dead Like Me isn't quite a zombie TV series, but it is about a bunch of characters suspended in an undead state.

"Life After Beth" is a VERY entertaining indie-zombie flick. HIGHLY recommend it.

Glad to see you also consider "Warm Bodies to be.........decent. At best.

My wife loved it, but I hated the fact that they made the zombie more human than the humans. Seriously, every human character was horribly two-dimensional, while the zombie protagonist laughably hit every indie "I'm an individual with my own vinyl collection" trope.

of course Dance of the Dead is on my list. I loved that movie.

I've heard good things about Life AFter Beth, but I can't seem to catch it on Netflix or any other streaming service.

as for Warm Bodies, my favorite part had to be where Dave Franco dies like a bitch. I also have a huge crush on Teresa Palmer and her accent...
