Angry 2015 Keeps getting better!

So as a big gift in December we ordered a 2004 Subaru Forester from Japan to be Shipped to the family in the South Pacific. Heres a few pictures of what we ordered. Vehicle cost $4k delivered to port. Customs were an additional $1.8k. We were ok with the price considering the images and the communication that was had with the dealership representative. Well here is what was found.

ETA was Jan 11, in reality it arrived on 1/19/15, ok we let the delay slide.

Picture of Vehicle....

Looks clean, awesome well here is what our family found on the front bumper... same exact corner of the front bumper thats pictured above..

HOUSE PAINT!! WTF!!

Just to play the devil's advocate... what if it was damaged in transit and someone (lamely) tried to hide it?

vehicle was loaded into a container ship by the dealership and unloaded from the container once the customs was paid for by family/customs officers

Here is the company responsible

Is that a 'modded' Subaru Forester?

Looks like it has a body kit and some aftermarket light fixtures, tint, etc.

Those should have been red flags to start.

Anyways, sorry to hear about the situation. It's always awful when you try to do something nice and it completely backfires.

Hopefully they resolve this situation for you!

Yea d!ck head I pc Patrick Ewing and my fav team is the Knicks, the dumbest thing i do is hangout here and collect basketball cards. SO Smart decisions or not I am STILL economically sound, have a great wife and beautiful kids and wake up to this every morning.

Yes I live in Florida but I grew up in NYC and live in Miami Beach because I feel like it not because I'm from Florida.

And if my decision to try and help my family doesnt seem like smartest ideas to you then so be it. I could care less about you and what you think. I posted here to share my experience and let people know about the risks of ordering vehicles from Japan.

Thanks Paul, the dealer/exporter had alot of inventory and I was led to believe that it was in better condition from what I was told. I had seen multiple picture of the vehicle motor/interior /under carriage etc. I've been in contact with the broker and am waiting for a response. They already admitted fault and had offered a discount on future purchases but I told him that there is no point in offering that if we lost all trust in them.
Mileage was good 100,000 kms and motor is stock. The aftermarket fogs were a plus due to some areas there having poor lighting

The bottom of the bumper / spoiler under the light does not even match. Different car!

Next time, send cash or Yen and let them pick out and negotiate the deal first. Brutal.

Unfortunately we don't know anyone in Japan and had to do everything through the Internet. The fit on the other images looks better than the one I posted above

Yes I know it's high risk but that is the only way to buy cars in that country for under 10k US and get something somewhat decent. We know people who have done the same and had great experiences.

How does it drive? Maybe you can contact the company to pay for the touch up job it will need. You did a nice thing for your family and that's what counts though I can see why you are upset.

They said it drives great but the only issues are cosmetic. I'm waiting to hear from be.Forward regarding the cost of a paint job for the bumper.

Tough break there, OP, but next time take stock in the decision-making process. There are always ways to improve what protection you have in this sort of thing. Hopefully the folks that sold it to you are willing to help out, if nothing else for customer service reasons.

If that's the only problem it's no big deal. It's just a plastic bumper cover. It can easily be painted or replaced.
