Why would he leave? Did he lie about being on some helicopter that was shot at and/or hit too?

I faintly remember he took a bit of time off last year to produce a film/documentary and had Jon Oliver as a replacement. Perhaps Stewart is pursuing other projects? Jon Oliver has a wonderful HBO show now so I wonder who will replace him.

He turned down Meet the Press not long ago. They offered him "Anything you want" to get him and he still said no. I gotta believe he is stepping up. Doing something big and something he feels deeply about. People crack jokes about him and you cant take him seriously cause he is on Comedy Central, but I challenge anyone to put up his reputation against anyone in the media. The guy has his values and never once has he swayed from them.

Good riddens. I listened to him once. He is nothing more than another trash spewer that proliferates the airwaves and the minds of the youth. Maybe he can take the rest with him (both extremes).

Yep, I'm serious except for my inexcusable and unexplainable butchering of word number two.

Maybe he is like Glenn Beck. Beck is all about the money. I don't think even he believes a tenth of the BS he spews. Stewart may be of the same mold.

I agree with some of the others... good riddance.

When Stewart and Colbert are considered "News Sources" by today's youth, you know the country is headed down a bad road.

He is leaving to do a documentary on Fred Cox, former kicker with the Minnesota Vikings. Stewart wants to focus on the "Nerf Football" Cox invented. Right up Stewart's alley. Not real, made up images of the real deal. Played indoors with nothing broken or destroyed. Nothing hurt. Real "Stewartess" story.

Winner of the 2014 Brian Williams Loser Award.

And yes, I am serious.

God Bless.

Most is true.

How aren't they considered news sources? They report news, just make it funny. Not many other shows rip on both sides. He's been strongly against republicans, yet has been strongly against many things Obama has done.

Obviously he's more liberal, but who do you watch for news? Fox? Terribly one sided..CNN? MSNBC? Same thing. Too one sided, no Democrat president has ever done wrong in their eyes. So when it comes to watching the news, I completely understand why so many people watch this guy

You listened to him once and have a strong stance about him? Nothing like judging a book by its cover, right? Comparing him to Glenn Beck? Do yourself a favor, stay out of topics you know squat about.

Most trusted "News Sources". Don't forget that. That does say a lot about the media in this country. If you watch Stewert, you would understand the problems we have with our media.

He is an entertaining satirist.

He is not a "News Source".

The fact that so many consider him a "trusted" news source is exactly the problem that you can't seem to understand.

Satire is not news. It is simply satire.

He may not be a news source in that he generates original investigative pieces but he certainly is a source in that even with the spin he conveys the news.

Not sure how the style can be hated that much, the days of watching the 10pm news on a local channel that re-hashes stories that are hours, perhaps days old, and making you wait 30 minutes to hear the weather when it's accessible through a click on your phone or computer should be dead, so if it's going to be delayed it needs originality. That's why I'm a fan of reddit/twitter/etc. when I actually want immediate information on a topic.

Every channel puts their spin or opinion in it, be it what they choose to tell in the allotted time or the opinion which comes after - he just does it during. At it's root I'd certainly call it a source for people to get news from.

Most people, actually pretty much everyone, doesn't consider him a news source per-say. But what a vast majority of people do see Stewart as -even though he's a comedian first- is a better source of news over any of the mainstream garbage networks we call "news".

Stewart never has claimed -ever- to be a source of news. Yet his high degree of intellect and ways he and his massive staff covers the media, covering stories, is downright brilliant...so many people (like myself) would much rather watch him than CNN, Fox or MSNBC.

I still get my news from Independent sources, but I always turn to Stewart, and now even the Nightly Show as a source of seeing a much more saavy and light hearted take on the issues of the day.

I'm sad to see him go, but if he is moving on to bigger and better things, I'll actually be quite happy. As much as I like him on the Daily Show, I know his talents could be used on an even broader audience and bigger stage with more of an impact.

I'd much rather our youth watch either of them than Fox News or CNN.

Has anyone watched Larry Wilmore? Not the biggest fan, though I've never tuned into any of these guys every night. I'm the occasional viewer.
