Default Real life question

Ever really think about giving up on something cause you had a STRONG gut feeling something wasnt right(the type of gut feeling that never lied)? Its hard especially if u have so much time in it. If so what did u do?

Gotta go with your gut sometimes man. I know it's hard to when you've put alot of time into something, but your feeling that way for a reason. I'd say sleep on it, and then when you come to a decision just go with it. Second guessing yourself gets you no where, and once you've gone through with it there will be a weight off your shoulders.

I've come to learn that my instincts are usually right. Not to say I'm perfect, but when you get that spidey sense about things, I find it's a good idea to listen to it.

Are we talking sports card collecting or something real-life important?

That's called second guessing yourself. Like i said, Theres a reason your feeling the way you are. If your not sure then make a pros and cons list. I know it sounds silly, but its a quick way to find out if the good is worth the bad.

My mom always told me the following:

1. never make life altering decisions when you are pregnant (I think you are safe on this one)
2. Never make life altering decisions when you are in the midst of a crisis

Make sure you are in a good space and focus on the decision at hand, make a pro/con list, and weigh all your options. Where would this put you in 5 years, etc.

Good luck with your decision.

I'm sure neither of these examples apply to, but maybe this might be a bit useful:

1. As a teacher I tell my kids to always trust their gut instincts on assessments, because 8-9 times out of 10 that will be the correct response

2. Personally, I follow the same mantra in many aspects of my life, from decisions to personal situations. For example, 5 weeks ago I was playing basketball, jumped for a rebound, landed on a friend's foot, ankle buckled, and I was in sever pain on the floor. My buddies, while sympathetic, after a couple of minutes encouraged me to stand up and try and walk it off a bit to loosen it up. They helped me up, I put the foot down slightly and just knew my ankle was broken, so I asked them to carry me off the court, and I got one of them to drive me to the ER.

They all knew I was overreacting to a severe sprain.
Even though I've never broken a bone, I knew it was broken.
Guess who was right?

Also, when I lost my job after 9/11 I was out of work for quite awhile. Long enough that I was becoming nervous and desperate. But I turned down two jobs because as the interview process proceeded my instincts told me that was not the best situation for me and my family. And I went with it and turned them down, prolonging my miserable situation. But I have never regretted it.

Take a break and see how you feel after letting it settle for a bit. Try not to dwell on it and if you feel the same way after stepping away it may be time to totally walk away.
