Default PAYPAL: Can I pay with a CC instead of my balance?

I need to make a sizable purchase but don't want to use my PP funds, is it possible to pay via PP with a CC and not touch my funds? In the past PP has always drained my funds first before using an alternate source, trying o avoid this.

Thanks!

If I am not mistaken, I think then automatically use your balance, and then fund with Credit Card.

If there is a button, log out of paypal first and then click the button. There is an option to pay using your credit card as a guest.

CC payments cost paypal money while your balance is free. Also, CC payments have chargeback risks out of paypal's control.

Ahh okay. I guess the other option is to just transfer the money to my bank account so it's not there anyway and then just use the CC since the balance is zero. The store I am buying from takes all CC types but they say through PP only, maybe a bit more protection for them.

Thank you

That is the method I use. The money won't show up in your bank account for 2-4 days, but it is immediately removed from your PP account when you opt to transfer it.

I buy stuff off eBay all the time for work, and always have to remember to transfer over any balance I may have beforehand.

It lets me chose what I want to pay with everytime. That could be because I never keep a balance in there though.

i asked a very long time ago and if i recall what the person told me correctly, this "feature" is quite deliberate and is one reason why paypal is not just a bank, subject to all banking regulations, etc. as if designing a system that allows any person with an email address to send and receive payments isn't brilliant enough, apparently they really thought this thing through.

Thanks for the responses, I decided to just empty out my balance and then buy the item, so I was able to put it on the CC I wanted. It was a sizable purchase and then of course I got the 5x ebay bucks email this morning! Damn you ebay!

i was just able to select whatever option I wanted to pay with today. Using the Chrome browser and had no issues.

Don't ask me how much I want to offer. Come with a price in mind. If I don't want it or think it's worth that, I will let you know.
