I sent a card to Canada like 2 weeks ago and I just got this response from the buyer..
" i recieved my card today in rough shape ....the envolope u sent it in was run over theres black tred marks and rips in it...dirt all in the envolope and top of the card....now i cant break the ITG label or it loses value ..."

What do I do in this situation and so that I am covered and he can't just say this and then get his money back? I also had no return policy specified in my auction page. So what do I do?

I responed to the email like this:
"Sorry to hear that, please send back and I will refund your money upon receiving, the card. I can't believe it, I have never had any problems."

Sounds like customs had a field day messing with your package. I've ran into some trouble with them holding my stuff for a few weeks and when it got here it was obviously opened and resealed, and even not receiving one. As far as it getting there damaged like that, I have no idea, never had that big of a problem. Hope things can get resolved for you.

Yeah, I mean I am an honest person. If he sends it back I will look at it and then refund his money. If he doesn't send it back then oh well. I guess I get a negative.

you couldnt have handled any any better. in a kind way you are FORCING him to send it back before there is any compensation. now, he may not send it back because he sees it as too much of a hassle -OR- the card was never damaged & he's trying to scam you for some $$$. so, instead he'll move on & try to scam someone else...

you may want to ask him for a picture of the card and bubble mailer to confirm that it was damaged in transit. That could help you in a PayPal claim if things get escalated.

if it comes to a paypal claim the buyer has to ship back to seller for a refund.

I would ask for pictures. Had an issue like this once. Never got any pictures, actually never heard back.

I had a lot damaged awhile back....totally smashed the lucite case and the 4 heroes and prospect jersey cards. Had the guy email me pics, I agree'd they'd been damaged and had him ship them back to me and I refunded his payment.

I had someone from canada send me a silmilar response after they had recieved their card. They said the bubble mailer was intact but it looked like it was run over by a tank and the card was destroyed. The click style case was shattered in thousands of pieces. I asked them to send me the card back. they never did but they sent me scans of the destroyed card(it could have been doctored for all i know. I never recieved the card and there was never a dispute opend. This was a $70 sale.

I wonder if this is the same person. PM me their ebay name and I'll let you know.

I still have one of the emails:

Hi Nick,

As per my eBay discussion with you in regards to this card you delivered to me, here is a couple of scans of what the card looked like when I opened it. The bubble-mailer was not opened, yet the card was completely destroyed.

Please get back to me as soon as you have had a chance to see the scans, and we can go forward.
