Default Why are some cards not rookies

I seen a 1/1 Auto of Greg Oden from Topps Trademark moves but somebody said it was not a rookie it was a parrell how is it not a rookie still.????

It is a rookie, but it is not a true rookie card in that it is a parallel version of it.

The base rookie card is a true rookie card, any deviation from the base set is no longer a true rookie.

it makes no sense to me honestly. so if you pull a bowman chrome refractor of a rookie /50 its no longer a rookie?

It is still a RC but not the actual RC card. It is a parallel version of that card.

For most collectors it doesn't really matter whether the card is a "RC" or not as long as it is a first year card.

Just to add more confusion it depends on the collector

generally speaking I'd say a players RC will always be worth more than his rookie. Most players only have one or two true rc's. Given the new MLB rules this clearer in a few years when the 06 (first year that started..or was it last year)? Since you now must either make the opening day roster, or be called up (making the teams roster) and not just be just a signed prospect in their organization.
