we've already had one member state that he didn't want to play a points league. I'm up for ether a stats league or points league. What is everyone else's thoughts?

I was thinking that we should have a prospect/minor league draft before we draft our 25 man roster. This can be done through the message board here, but we should probably have a time limit for the picks. What do you all think? We can random.org for the draft list

I'll give it a day or so to make sure people log in and sign up for the league first. I was thinking about the draft order and this was what I was thinking. I'll do a random.org (I'll try to record it on my iphone) randomization 3 times for the minor league draft. We can use the same draft order, but flip it around so the person who drafted last will have 1st pick in the 25 man roster draft? What do you guys think? That way we can keep it fair. I'm thinking a snake draft would be best...

I think a minor draft after the real draft is the only way to go. This way there aren't a hundred questions as to who you are able to draft or what a players service status is..Have the regular draft , if you want to pick minor guys that take up spots on your bench, fine. Then do a a minor draft with anybody that hasn't been picked

Keep the year to year keepers around 5 and take away some bench spots so people will be less inclined to try and stockpile prosects on there bench in a 16 team league. Do 3-5 rounds in a minor draft, and then you are able to keep those minor players for as long as you want. Once they are called up( in 4 months or 3 years from now), they have to be put on your roster immedaitely or you lose them.

I have seen minor drafts try to be done before, and it's just not good.

I agree with lindros, do the regular player draft and fill your roster, then everyone can draft minor leaguers in the final rounds of the draft (no one needs to be taking Bryce Harper in the third round)

also I am Hip Hip Jorge in the league

Ok that sounds good and makes the most sense. Did you guys want to do a live draft? That would be the best. I'd need to know best time and day you all can draft. I live on the west coast so I go by pacific time

I agree and I think a live draft would be best. Sometime after the work day would be best (at least for me). I am usually up late as well.

I have never done a live draft, so I may need someone to walk me through it before hand but that sounds fun. The best time for me would be a Saturday or Sunday night, after 7:00 PM PST.

25 x 16 = 400 picks x 1.5minutes/pick = 600 minutes = 10 hours

Obviously this math for time assumes everyone takes their time, but a live draft is going to be brutal. If we have the capability we should start the draft at the beginning of March as a slow draft, then pick a Sunday night to wrap it up live.

As for Minors, does ESPN allow for minors slots? I haven't done an ESPN baseball league in 10 years, but CBS has minors slots and if they are called up, it kicks the player out and creates an illegal roster for the team. If ESPN doesn't have a way to manage this, who is going to police the minor league spots on everyone's teams?

Also, do the 9 bench spots include the minor leaguers? Or will they be separate? They should be in the regular draft, so if someone wants to take them ahead of some major leaguer to stash they can, but the risk competing this season to be prepared for a future season.

We could always do it over the span of a weekend. Do the 25 roster first and then the minors so we don't feel like we have to complete it all in one sitting. Besides, once all the starters have been picked it should really go pretty fast.

This is going to be a dynasty league, so if everyone agrees with this, we're going to be keeping a majority, if not all, of your team including all minor league spots you have.

Signed up in the wee hours last night. It was too late to come up with a clever and possibly offensive team name.

LEAGUE IS FULL!!!!

Alright, so I'm going to set the draft for Sunday late in March. It will be a 25 man roster which INCLUDES the 4 minor league slots. There's no way to adjust the draft to only draft the first 21 rounds unless I'm missing something.

In the mean time, we need to make final decisions on the points system, buy-in fee for the season, and any other things that need to be addressed.

Also, for guys that think this draft will take forever, we can start out draft already (after I do the random) on the boards here, or boards on the EPSN league homepage. I can probably add players to the roster prior to the draft. If not, then we'll have to just draft when our time comes
