Default Lots of fantasy drafts this Labor Day weekend - let's discuss

I know many of us are holding our drafts sometime this Labor Day weekend (mine is on Monday) - let's kick some questions and strategies around.

My first question is, in a 12-team league with a standard scoring system, where do you draft Adrian Peterson and MJD?

If I take a quarterback early, I they might be someone I get in the 2nd and 3rd rounds

Minnesota Vikings' Adrian Peterson likely game-time decision for Week 1 - ESPN

ESPN claims that Peterson is 50/50 for week 1. But who really knows?

I have three drafts this weekend including my main one this afternoon. I think Peterson and MJD both go somewhere in the middle of the second. Most people I've talked to have more faith in Peterson than MJD.

I think once say week 4 hits Peterson will be close to being back to normal and most people that drafted him late will be very happy.

I read a very well trusted fantasy source who "claims" he knows someone who works pretty close within the Vikings organization and this individual stated that if the Vikings get off to a bad start, meaning lose the first 3-4 games that you will see Gerhart carry the ball more and more and Peterson less and less as the season progresses as they want to protect Peterson seeing it that he is their long term investment afterall. At this present time I would not touch him in drafts until round 4.

I grabbed Peterson in the 7th round as my 4th rb. Don't know how much longer he would have lasted and didnt like the wrs at that point so took the gamble with AP.

MJD went in round 8 in ours but everyone was saying it was to high, which I agree

Wow. In all the mock drafts I've been in, seen, as well as other fantasy drafts I've discussed with others, that is the latest I've ever heard of Peterson going. He is usually gone in the 2nd or 3rd round at the latest. Getting him in the 7th round is stone-cold crazy. That's a steal...unless you're in a 5-team league or something.

They both would have to fall to the 5thRD for me, not guys I'm targeting.

Nope 12 team league. People just kept letting him fall so I thought 7 wa long enough and grabbed him. Was surprised myself

In my draft we had 10 teams and MJD went in the 3rd round, AP in the 4th

Got my last league of the year tonight. I don't like to run more then 3 a year. in my two done already I ended up with mjd in the 5th round 10 teamer. I thought that was worth the risk there last week and a week later I wish I avoided the temptation. The longer this goes with mjd the more I think he's undraftable. I already thought AP was undraftable and still do. Today I won't take either player

I got AP in the late 2nd round. I'd go QB first and best RB left in 2nd round.

I like Peterson & MJD in the 4th round at the earliest, 5th ideally and anything later is a steal. Basically, that puts at least 3-4 people on your team that you are relying on more than AP or MJD. I think that's about right.

I'm not doing a 12-man league this year. But, I have gotten AP as my 2nd RB. I go RB, WR, RB, WR for my first 4 picks. I only have MJD on one team and that's only because I missed the draft. AP is more likely to me to have the better start and maybe season if both are healthy. MJD has missed all of camp and pre-season.
