Blowout Fantasy Hockey League

Here's the deal. All 14 teams that were in the league last year have been sent an email invite.

If you were not in last year's league and want to participate this year, post here.

There is no buy-in, but we have mulled over throwing a few bucks in for there to be a prize.

I don't expect there to be many openings, but if there is enough interest we could open up another league. 14 teams was pretty tight last year, so maybe 10 and 10 or 12 and 12 if we have the interest.

Oh, and the goalie problem from last year is fixed. No one is going to be looking at picking up Jani Hurme or Wade Flaherty just to survive this year.

10 teams are back so far. Last year's champion hasn't re-registered yet but I know he will. We might have enough interest to split into two leagues this year.

Hopefully my team doesn't blow the proverbial pole this year. 3 of the guys I counted on to score failed to show up for the first 3/4 of the season...and that three goalie thing...well lets just not mention that

I had the same problem with the goalie situation!!!.......lol

Giguere killed me last year, I drafted he, Lundy and Ersberg early and it all went to hell quickly. I wouldn't mind most of the rest of my team back though.

I think I drafted Price early on (pretty sure it was him), figured I'd pick up a lower end guy for my second slot, then realized that there was a 3rd starting spot...dump...I think I picked up an AHL'er that finished in a lower league

And I don't know if I can bank on Jordan Staal as a scorer this year. Although he has had 2 not so great seasons on the O end in a row....but a bounceback 35+ goal year and 40 assists would suffice.

It looks like we have the whole band together except for one, I'm waiting to hear back from him (co-worker from last job, took second last year despite drafting Brodeur and Phaneuf #1 & 2).

I will talk to the league about expanding to 16 teams, any thoughts guys?

16 teams is fine with me. with the lack of clutching and grabbing in the league now your semistars could get more points.

We got the whole band back together for 2009! Throwing it out there for league members only. What do we think about expanding to 16.

If you still have to start even just 2 goalies, 16 teams really thins that position out once again. Since its a free league then whatever but if its for money I say no to 16 teams.

Are we still drafting on Tuesday night the 29th ?? Didn't someone ask for a change ?? I'm good for that night or any other night in which the NFL is not airing their product

We're keeping with that night, its too late to change it. If you can't make the draft, set up your autolist... just as a backup, you should set up your auto-draft.
